The dramatic veins are mineral deposits — iron oxides and other trace minerals that settled along natural fractures over millions of years. About the herringbone pattern: Each small 1×4 marble piece is set at an angle to its neighbor, creating the timeless V-shaped herringbone layout. Sealing: Seal natural marble with a penetrating stone sealer before and after installation, and re-seal annually in kitchens and high-use areas. Calacatta Viola's bright white background can be prone to staining, so prompt and thorough sealing is important.

Cleaning: Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner only. Avoid acidic cleaners, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia-based products — these etch marble and permanently dull the surface. A polished finish shows etching and water spots more readily than honed, so wipe spills promptly, especially anything acidic, to protect the bright white background.

Installation: Use white or light-colored thinset — standard gray thinset can bleed through the white marble and alter its appearance. Set whole sheets and align the herringbone pattern across seams so the joints stay consistent. Non-sanded grout is recommended for the tight joints between the small pieces. Dry-lay sheets first to balance the veining.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine marble — not defects. Color, veining, texture, shade, movement, finish, and sizing vary from piece to piece. Product photos and samples are a general reference and may not match the exact material you receive. These variations are inherent characteristics of natural stone — they are part of its beauty, not defects.

Before You Install

Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.
Blend tiles from multiple boxes as you work to achieve the most natural, balanced appearance.
Dry-lay and inspect the full layout before setting a single tile.
Installation constitutes full acceptance of the product, so review everything carefully first.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
