Sealing: Calacatta Viola marble must be sealed with a penetrating impregnator sealer before grouting and after installation. Because the honed finish is more porous than polished, reapply sealer every 6–12 months in wet areas such as showers and every 12–18 months in dry applications like backsplashes. The pale background is particularly susceptible to staining from oils, wine, and colored grouts, so thorough sealing is critical.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone-safe cleaner and a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge — never use acidic cleaners (vinegar, lemon-based products), bleach, or abrasive scrubbers. The honed finish, while less prone to water spotting than polished marble, will still show etching from acidic substances; wipe up spills immediately, especially citrus juices, coffee, and wine.

Installation: Use a white polymer-modified thinset mortar to prevent any gray bleed-through on the light marble background. Back-butter each mesh sheet in addition to applying thinset to the substrate for full coverage. Use non-sanded grout for joints under 1/8 inch to avoid scratching the honed surface, and ensure grout color is tested on a spare piece before committing, as pale marbles can absorb pigment at the joints.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
