Sealing: Nero Marquina, despite its dark color, is a porous marble and should be sealed with a penetrating stone sealer prior to grouting and installation. Reapply sealer every 12–18 months in wet areas such as showers; annually on floors. Proper sealing helps prevent moisture intrusion and staining from hard water deposits, which are especially visible on dark stone.

Cleaning: Clean regularly with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft microfiber cloth or mop — never use acidic cleaners (vinegar, citrus-based), bleach, or abrasive scrubbers, as these will etch and dull the polished surface. Wipe up spills immediately, especially oils and acidic liquids, as the polished finish is susceptible to etching and spotting. For routine maintenance, warm water and a drop of mild dish soap are sufficient.

Installation: Use a white or light gray polymer-modified thinset mortar to prevent any dark bleed-through on lighter veined areas. Back-butter each tile in addition to applying thinset to the substrate for full coverage, especially important for the 12×24 large format. Use a 1/4″–3/8″ notched trowel and ensure the substrate is perfectly flat — large-format tiles are unforgiving on uneven surfaces. A lippage-free installation benefits from the use of tile leveling clips during setting.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Color, veining, texture, shade, movement, finish, and sizing vary from piece to piece. Product photos and samples are a general reference and may not match the exact material you receive. These variations are inherent characteristics of natural stone — they are part of its beauty, not defects.

Before You Install

Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.
Blend tiles from multiple boxes as you work to achieve the most natural, balanced appearance.
Dry-lay and inspect the full layout before setting a single tile.
Installation constitutes full acceptance of the product, so review everything carefully first.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
