Nero Marquina is the world's most famous black marble, classically quarried in the Basque region of northern Spain. It's prized for its deep, near-black background dramatically cut through with crisp white veining — a high-contrast, sophisticated look that has been a benchmark of luxury stone for centuries.

What is a tumbled finish? Tumbling rolls the tiles with abrasives to soften and round the edges and corners and give the surface a matte, slightly textured, weathered look. On Nero Marquina, the tumbled finish softens the black to a more muted, antiqued charcoal tone and adds a rustic, old-world character — along with natural slip resistance underfoot. It also hides etching far better than a polished black surface, which shows every mark.

Honed vs polished: The honed finish is a smooth matte surface that softens glare, hides etching and water spots, and offers more slip resistance underfoot — a versatile choice for both floors and walls. A polished finish, by contrast, is glossy and reflective, intensifying the veining contrast but showing etching more readily.

Shipping Cost: This is a full-size tile, which ships at standard freight rates calculated at checkout based on quantity and destination. Free shipping is not available on tile or porcelain orders — it applies only to qualifying mosaic and molding orders.

Processing & Delivery: Orders are processed within 2–3 business days. Large orders ship via LTL freight — curbside delivery only. An adult must be present to sign for delivery. Estimated transit: 2–10 business days after shipment.

30-Day Returns: Uninstalled tile may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Inspect all tile carefully before installation — installed tile cannot be returned or exchanged. Samples are final sale.

Exclusions: Standard shipping fees apply to all tile and porcelain orders. Additional charges may apply for delivery to Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, or international addresses.

Sealing: Seal natural marble with a penetrating stone sealer before and after installation, and re-seal periodically in kitchens and wet areas. Tumbled stone has a slightly more open, textured surface, so a good sealer is especially important — and on black marble, a sealer also helps deepen and protect the rich dark color.

Cleaning: Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner only. Avoid acidic cleaners, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia-based products — these etch marble and dull the surface. The tumbled matte texture hides wear and water spots well and is forgiving in everyday use, but still requires acid-free care.

Installation: Tumbled tiles have soft, slightly irregular edges, so they're typically set with a wider grout joint that suits the rustic look. Choose a grout color that complements the black — charcoal or dark gray for a seamless look, or a contrasting tone to highlight the pattern. Dry-lay a section first to blend the veining across the layout.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine marble — not defects. Samples are $7.99 each. Samples ship free and leave our warehouse within 1–3 business days. Sizes vary by material and availability — typically 3"×3" up to 8"×8" — and every sample is cut from the same material stocked for full orders.

What a Sample Shows
Color, texture, finish, and overall character. Because natural stone varies piece to piece, one sample represents the material but can't show the full range of a lot. How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Damage & Shortages

30-Day Returns
Uninstalled tile in full, unopened boxes may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Return freight is paid by the customer. Partial boxes, opened boxes, installed material, and samples are final sale.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.
