Lyra Steel Blue is a high-performance glazed porcelain tile designed specifically for swimming pools, spas, and water features. Its cool blue-gray tone mimics the natural color of deep, clear water, and its dense porcelain body is engineered to resist pool chemicals, freeze-thaw cycles, and continuous submersion without degrading.

The 6×6 inch format installs quickly across large pool surfaces and works equally well as a full-field tile or as an accent band at the waterline. The lightly textured glaze provides a subtle grip underfoot while still reflecting light in a way that makes pool water appear vivid and inviting.

Lyra Steel Blue pool tile is ideal for in-ground pools, above-ground pool interiors, spa shells, fountains, and water walls. Sealing: Glazed porcelain pool tile does not require sealing. The fired glaze acts as a permanent, non-porous barrier. Grout joints in pool applications should be sealed with a pool-grade, waterproof grout sealer annually or as recommended by your pool maintenance professional.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral tile cleaner or a diluted pool-safe solution. Avoid abrasive scrub pads that can scratch the glaze surface. Do not use acid-based cleaners (muriatic acid, vinegar) directly on tile surfaces, as these can dull the glaze over time. For calcium or mineral deposits, use a product specifically formulated for pool tile scale removal.

Installation: Use a pool-grade, white polymer-modified thinset mortar rated for submerged and wet applications. Apply with full back-buttering to eliminate voids that could trap water and cause freeze-thaw failure. Use pool-grade epoxy grout or waterproof grout for all joints. Allow thinset to fully cure (minimum 7–10 days) before filling the pool. Confirm tile lot numbers match across all boxes before beginning installation.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. A screen can't show you how Calacatta veining reads under your kitchen lights or how a porcelain finish sits next to your cabinet color. A sample can. It's the single best way to buy stone or porcelain tile with confidence — and the cheapest mistake you'll ever avoid.

How It Works
Samples are $7.99 each. Samples ship free and leave our warehouse within 1–3 business days. Sizes vary by material and availability — typically 3"×3" up to 8"×8" — and every sample is cut from the same material stocked for full orders.

What a Sample Shows
Color, texture, finish, and overall character. Because natural stone varies piece to piece, one sample represents the material but can't show the full range of a lot. Porcelain samples are highly representative of the production run. Want to see the current lot before you commit? Ask us — we'll send photos.

How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

  • The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
  • Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
  • Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
  • Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Uninstalled tile in full, unopened boxes may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Return freight is paid by the customer. Partial boxes, opened boxes, installed material, and samples are final sale.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

  • Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
  • Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
  • Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.
