Planet Opal is a vitreous glass pool tile engineered specifically for permanent water immersion, delivering a soft opalescent shimmer that transitions between creamy white, aqua, and pale blue tones as light and water move across its surface. The tile features a smooth, semi-gloss opal glaze that is non-porous, chemical-resistant, and rated for freeze-thaw conditions, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor aquatic environments in all climates. Planet Opal is ideal for full-tiled pool interiors, waterline bands, raised-beam spas, water walls, and fountain basins. Because this is a clearance and specialty series, we recommend ordering a sample tile to verify color match with your plaster and coping selections before placing a full order, and purchasing 10–15% overage to account for cuts and future repairs.

Sealing: Vitreous glass tile is non-porous and does not require sealing. Grout joints in pool applications should be sealed with a waterproof, pool-rated epoxy grout or grout sealer upon installation and inspected annually for any cracking or erosion, particularly at the waterline where chemical exposure is highest.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral tile cleaner or diluted white vinegar solution. Avoid abrasive scrubbers or pads that can scratch the glaze surface. For calcium or mineral deposits at the waterline, use a non-acidic pool tile cleaner formulated for glass tile; never use muriatic acid directly on glass pool tile as it can etch or cloud the opal glaze.

Installation: Use a white polymer-modified thinset mortar rated for submerged/wet applications (ANSI A118.4 or better). Back-butter each tile in addition to applying thinset to the substrate to ensure full coverage and eliminate voids that could cause cracking under hydrostatic pressure. Use a pool-grade or epoxy grout for all joints to resist chemical and water intrusion. Allow full mortar cure (minimum 72 hours) before filling the pool.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. A screen can't show you how Calacatta veining reads under your kitchen lights or how a porcelain finish sits next to your cabinet color. A sample can. It's the single best way to buy stone or porcelain tile with confidence — and the cheapest mistake you'll ever avoid.

How It Works
Samples are $7.99 each. Samples ship free and leave our warehouse within 1–3 business days. Sizes vary by material and availability — typically 3"×3" up to 8"×8" — and every sample is cut from the same material stocked for full orders.

What a Sample Shows
Color, texture, finish, and overall character. Because natural stone varies piece to piece, one sample represents the material but can't show the full range of a lot. Porcelain samples are highly representative of the production run. Want to see the current lot before you commit? Ask us — we'll send photos.

How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

  • The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
  • Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
  • Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
  • Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Uninstalled tile in full, unopened boxes may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Return freight is paid by the customer. Partial boxes, opened boxes, installed material, and samples are final sale.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

  • Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
  • Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
  • Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.
