Basalt Black is a fine-grained volcanic stone sourced from mineral-rich geological formations, delivering a consistently deep charcoal-to-black tone with a quietly textured surface and virtually no veining — making it one of the most architecturally versatile natural stones available.

The brushed finish is achieved by wire-brushing the stone's surface to reveal a soft, slightly tactile texture that diffuses light evenly and reduces the appearance of water spots and surface marks. This 16×24 large-format tile installs efficiently with minimal cuts and creates an almost seamless, monolithic effect across large surfaces.

Sealing: Basalt is naturally dense but still requires sealing with a penetrating stone sealer before installation and after grouting. In wet areas such as showers or outdoor applications, reseal every 12–18 months to maintain stain and moisture resistance. The brushed texture can harbor residue if left unsealed.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft cloth or mop — never use acidic cleaners (vinegar, citrus), bleach, or abrasive scrubbing pads, as these can damage the stone surface and degrade the sealer. The brushed finish is forgiving with everyday marks but benefits from routine damp mopping to keep the texture clear.

Installation: Use a gray or charcoal unsanded or medium-bed thinset mortar appropriate for large-format tiles to complement the dark stone color — white thinset may show through grout joints. Back-butter each tile and use a notched trowel to achieve full coverage on the large 16×24 format. Ensure a flat, level substrate; use tile leveling clips to prevent lippage across large panels.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Processing & Transit
In-stock orders are processed within 2–3 business days. Most tile and stone orders ship via scheduled LTL freight and typically arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on your destination. You'll receive tracking and carrier details by email as soon as your order leaves our warehouse.

Freight Delivery

  • Curbside delivery. The carrier unloads at the curb or driveway nearest your address; delivery does not include moving materials indoors or into a garage.
  • Scheduled appointment. The freight company contacts you directly to arrange a delivery window.
  • Signature required. An adult (18+) must be present to inspect and sign for the shipment.
  • Clear access. Please ensure the delivery site is reachable by a freight truck and free of obstructions.

Natural Variation
Color, veining, texture, shade, movement, finish, and sizing vary from piece to piece. Product photos and samples are a general reference and may not match the exact material you receive. These variations are inherent characteristics of natural stone — they are part of its beauty, not defects.

Before You Install

  • Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes as you work to achieve the most natural, balanced appearance.
  • Dry-lay and inspect the full layout before setting a single tile.
  • Installation constitutes full acceptance of the product, so review everything carefully first.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
