Sealing: Travertine is a porous stone and must be sealed before grouting and again after installation. Apply a penetrating stone sealer and reapply every 12–18 months in wet areas such as bathrooms and kitchens. The open pits of tumbled travertine absorb liquids readily, so consistent sealing is especially important to prevent staining.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft mop or cloth. Never use vinegar, lemon juice, acidic tile cleaners, or abrasive scrubbers — acids will etch and pit travertine's calcium-based surface. Wipe up spills promptly, especially oils, coffee, and citrus liquids.

Installation: Use a white or bone-colored polymer-modified thinset mortar to prevent dark adhesive from showing through the stone's natural pits and lighter areas. Back-butter each tile for full coverage and to fill surface voids. Fill open travertine pits with unsanded grout or a travertine filler before final grouting for a smoother, more protected surface. Allow proper cure time before sealing.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
