Sealing: Travertine is a porous stone and must be sealed before grouting and regularly thereafter. Apply a penetrating stone sealer prior to installation and reseal every 12 months in interior settings, or every 6 months in exterior or high-humidity environments. The split face finish harbors additional surface pockets that can trap moisture and staining agents, making thorough sealer penetration especially important.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner diluted in warm water and a soft-bristle brush — the textured split face surface may require gentle scrubbing to clear dust and debris from crevices. Never use acidic cleaners (vinegar, citrus-based products), alkaline degreasers, or abrasive pads, as these will damage the stone surface and break down the sealer. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning to prevent residue buildup in the relief texture.

Installation: Use a white polymer-modified thinset mortar to avoid any gray bleed-through behind lighter chips. Back-butter each sheet in addition to applying thinset to the substrate to ensure full adhesion across the uneven split face surface. Use sanded grout for the 2×4 chip joints and select a grout color in a warm beige or walnut tone to complement the mixed palette; press grout fully into all crevices and wipe clean before it fully sets to avoid difficult removal from the textured surface.

Before You Install

Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.
Blend tiles from multiple boxes as you work to achieve the most natural, balanced appearance.
Dry-lay and inspect the full layout before setting a single tile.
Installation constitutes full acceptance of the product, so review everything carefully first.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
