About Mixed Travertine & Marble 1×2 Diamond Tumbled Mosaic

Material Education

This mosaic blends two of nature's most celebrated stones — travertine and marble — sourced from ancient geological formations in the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions. The travertine contributes warm ivory, walnut, and golden-beige tones with its characteristic pitted surface and linear banding, while the marble adds creamy whites and soft grays with subtle veining. Together they create a naturally variegated, earthy palette with depth and organic warmth.

Because both travertine and marble are 100% natural stones, each chip will differ slightly in tone, veining, and surface texture — this variation is the hallmark of authentic natural stone and gives every installation a one-of-a-kind character.

About this mosaic: Small 1×2 inch chips are cut on the diagonal into a diamond orientation and pre-arranged on a mesh-backed sheet, allowing for fast, consistent installation without hand-laying individual pieces. The tumbled finish softens all edges and surfaces, giving each chip an aged, heirloom quality straight out of the box.

Design & Inspiration

The warm ivory, gold, and walnut tones of this mosaic pair beautifully with oil-rubbed bronze or aged brass fixtures, natural white oak cabinetry, and soft linen textiles, making it ideal for Mediterranean, Tuscan, Old World, and transitional interiors. Its muted, earthy palette also works seamlessly in spa-inspired bathrooms, rustic kitchens, and casual coastal spaces.

The diamond pattern adds dynamic visual movement compared to a standard straight-set grid, creating an elegant, jewel-like surface that draws the eye without overwhelming a space. The tumbled finish diffuses light softly, reducing glare and lending an antique, well-traveled warmth that polished stone cannot replicate.

Popular design combinations: pair with a large-format honed travertine field tile on the floor and aged brass fixtures for a cohesive Old World bathroom retreat. Explore the full Travertine collection for coordinating sizes, and browse more natural stone mosaics for complementary looks.

This mixed travertine and marble mosaic combines two iconic natural stones into a single, harmonious tile, showcasing warm ivories, honey golds, walnut browns, and soft creamy whites drawn from quarries in the Mediterranean and Middle East. The interplay of travertine's earthen banding and marble's delicate veining creates a richly layered surface with timeless appeal.

Each chip is tumbled to round the edges and soften the face, producing an authentically aged, rustic texture that evokes centuries-old stonework. Arranged in a diagonal diamond pattern on a convenient mesh-backed sheet, these tiles install quickly and evenly, saving significant time on grouting and alignment compared to hand-set methods.

This mosaic is well-suited for bathroom floors, shower walls, kitchen backsplashes, and feature niches where an Old World or Mediterranean aesthetic is desired. As a clearance or special-buy item, we recommend ordering a sample to verify color match before committing to a full order, and purchasing 10–15% extra to account for cuts and future repairs.

Free Shipping: As a mosaic, this product qualifies for free curbside shipping on orders over $1,999 within the continental U.S. Orders below that threshold ship at standard rates calculated at checkout.

Processing & Delivery: Orders are processed within 2–3 business days. Large orders ship via LTL freight — curbside delivery only. An adult must be present to sign for delivery. Estimated transit: 2–10 business days after shipment.

30-Day Returns: Uninstalled tile may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Inspect all tile carefully before installation — installed tile cannot be returned or exchanged. Samples are final sale.

Exclusions: Free shipping does not apply to Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, or international addresses. Additional charges may apply for remote delivery areas.

Sealing: Both travertine and marble are porous natural stones and must be sealed before grouting and use. Apply a penetrating stone sealer to all surfaces prior to installation, and reseal every 12 months in dry areas or every 6 months in wet areas such as showers and around tubs. Pale marble chips are especially susceptible to staining, so thorough sealing is critical.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner or mild dish soap diluted in warm water. Never use acidic cleaners such as vinegar, citrus-based products, or grout haze removers containing acid, as these will etch and dull the stone surface. The tumbled texture can trap grime in its pores, so periodic deep cleaning with a soft brush and stone-safe cleaner is recommended.

Installation: Use white polymer-modified thinset mortar to prevent any dark adhesive from telegraphing through the lighter chips. Because the joints between diamond-cut chips are small, use non-sanded grout for all joints under 1/8 inch. Back-butter each mesh sheet lightly in addition to spreading thinset on the substrate for full coverage. Align mesh sheets carefully to maintain consistent diamond orientation across the field, and leave 1/16-inch expansion joints at all perimeters.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Order 10% overage for cuts, waste, and future repairs. Tile & Mosaic Depot specialists are available M–F 8:30AM–5PM PST at 855-797-8453.

Why Order a Sample
A screen can't show you how Calacatta veining reads under your kitchen lights or how a porcelain finish sits next to your cabinet color. A sample can. It's the single best way to buy stone or porcelain tile with confidence — and the cheapest mistake you'll ever avoid.

How It Works
Samples are $7.99 each. Samples ship free and leave our warehouse within 1–3 business days. Sizes vary by material and availability — typically 3"×3" up to 8"×8" — and every sample is cut from the same material stocked for full orders.

What a Sample Shows
Color, texture, finish, and overall character. Because natural stone varies piece to piece, one sample represents the material but can't show the full range of a lot. Porcelain samples are highly representative of the production run. Want to see the current lot before you commit? Ask us — we'll send photos.

Good to Know

  • Samples are final sale — non-returnable and non-refundable.
  • We recommend sampling before every full order, especially for natural stone.
  • Larger or custom quantity? Contact us for a tailored quote.

Talk to a Specialist
Our stone and tile specialists will help you narrow it down. Call (855) 797-8453 or email sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5 PM PT.

How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

  • The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
  • Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
  • Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
  • Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Free Shipping
Free curbside freight on qualifying mosaic and molding orders over $1,999 in the continental U.S. Field tile, porcelain, and other product types ship at freight rates shown at checkout. Not available to Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, or international addresses.

Damage & Shortages
Report within 3 calendar days of delivery with photos of the pallet, packaging, and affected pieces to sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com. Verified claims are covered. Shortages of 1–5 pieces are refunded rather than reshipped — which is why we recommend ordering 10% overage.

30-Day Returns
Uninstalled tile in full, unopened boxes may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Return freight is paid by the customer. Partial boxes, opened boxes, installed material, and samples are final sale.

Questions Before You Order?
Call (855) 797-8453 or email sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com, Monday–Friday 8:30 AM–5 PM PT. If you're unsure about freight access at your address, ask us before checkout — we'll flag anything that could hold up delivery.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

  • Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
  • Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
  • Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.

Responsibility
Tile & Mosaic Depot supplies material only. We are not responsible for installation, labor costs, substrate conditions, setting materials, product misuse, or damage from handling, sealing, maintenance, or chemicals. No claims, returns, or replacements are accepted on installed material.
