Sealing: Seal Nero Marquina with a premium penetrating (impregnating) stone sealer before grouting and immediately after installation. Despite its dark color, black marble is porous and susceptible to moisture infiltration and grout staining. In wet areas such as showers, reseal every 12–18 months to maintain protection.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft cloth or mop — never use acidic cleaners (vinegar, citrus, or bleach-based products), as acids will etch the honed marble surface and permanently dull its finish. Wipe up spills promptly, particularly acidic liquids such as wine, coffee, or citrus juice. The honed finish, while more forgiving than polished, will show watermarks and soap residue if not wiped dry regularly.

Installation: Use white or light-gray polymer-modified thinset to avoid any bleed-through that could discolor the stone — though Nero Marquina's dark color makes bleed-through less critical than with pale stones, a quality thinset ensures maximum bond strength. Apply non-sanded grout for joints up to 1/8 inch. Back-butter each sheet lightly in addition to spreading thinset on the substrate for full coverage. Align mesh sheets carefully before pressing to ensure consistent joint spacing. Allow thinset to cure fully before grouting.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
