Sealing: Honed Calacatta Oliva marble is more porous than polished stone and must be sealed before installation and grouting. In wet areas such as showers, reapply a penetrating stone sealer every 6–12 months to protect against moisture penetration, staining, and grout haze absorption. Use a premium impregnating sealer rated for white and light-colored marble to avoid yellowing.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner diluted in water and a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. Never use vinegar, lemon juice, bleach, or any acidic or alkaline cleaners, as these will etch the honed surface and dull its finish. Wipe spills — especially oils, wine, and coffee — promptly, as the honed surface is more susceptible to staining than a polished finish.

Installation: Use white polymer-modified thinset mortar to prevent any grey bleed-through showing beneath this pale marble. Install with unsanded or fine-sanded grout depending on joint width; for the typical tight pencil liner joint, unsanded grout is preferred. Back-butter each piece for full coverage and ensure substrate is level and plumb, as the slim profile will telegraph any surface irregularities.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
