Sealing: Calacatta Oliva marble must be sealed with a penetrating stone sealer before grouting and before first use. In wet areas such as showers or bathroom floors, reseal every 6–12 months to prevent moisture infiltration and staining. The warm, pale background of this stone is particularly susceptible to oil and mineral staining if left unsealed.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft microfiber cloth or mop. Never use vinegar, lemon-based cleaners, bleach, or any acidic or abrasive products, as these will etch the honed marble surface and dull its finish permanently. Wipe up spills — especially oils, coffee, and wine — immediately to prevent absorption into the stone.

Installation: Use white polymer-modified thinset mortar to avoid any gray bleed-through on the pale Calacatta field chips. Apply non-sanded grout for the fine joints typical of basketweave mosaics. Align mesh sheets carefully during installation and press firmly with a grout float or rubber mallet to ensure full contact. Back-butter individual sheets in addition to the substrate for maximum bond strength in wet applications.

Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
