Sealing: Durango Travertine is a porous natural stone and must be sealed prior to installation and grouting. Apply a penetrating impregnator sealer and reapply every 12–18 months in wet areas such as showers and around tub surrounds. In dry areas such as living room floors, resealing every 2–3 years is typically sufficient. Pale ivory tiles in the batch may be more absorbent and benefit from two coats of sealer on initial application.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner diluted in warm water and a soft mop or cloth. Never use acidic cleaners such as vinegar, citrus-based products, or bathroom tile sprays containing acid, as these will etch and dissolve the calcium carbonate in travertine. Avoid abrasive scrubbing pads on the honed surface. Blot spills — especially wine, juice, and coffee — immediately to prevent staining.

Installation: Use white polymer-modified thinset mortar to avoid ghosting through lighter tiles. Back-butter each tile in addition to troweling the substrate for maximum bond coverage on a 12×12 format. Use tile spacers to maintain consistent grout joints and allow 24–48 hours of cure time before grouting. Select a sanded grout in a tone matched to the stone's warm beige range, and apply grout release or sealer to the tile face before grouting to prevent staining of the filled voids.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
