Breccia Oniciata is a celebrated Italian breccia marble from the Apuan Alps of Tuscany, distinguished by its spectacular arrangement of amber, sienna, terracotta, and ivory stone fragments woven together by bold burgundy and rust-red veining. The stone's ancient geological history — fragments cemented under tremendous pressure over millennia — gives it an almost painterly, mosaic-like surface that is utterly unique in the marble world.

Each 18×18 tile is finished to a high polish, bringing out a deep, mirror-like sheen that intensifies the warm copper and gold tones while highlighting the intricate vein network. The large format allows the full brecciated pattern to unfold across each tile, creating a floor or wall surface of extraordinary visual complexity and warmth.

Breccia Oniciata 18×18 polished tiles are ideally suited for interior floors, accent walls, fireplace surrounds, and luxury foyers where a dramatic, warm-toned stone statement is desired; due to the polished finish, use in wet or high-traffic floor areas should include an anti-slip mat or sealant program. We strongly recommend ordering a physical sample before committing to a full order, as the dramatic natural variation in this stone is best evaluated in person.

Sealing: Breccia Oniciata, like all natural marble, is porous and must be sealed before grouting and after installation with a penetrating stone sealer. Given the stone's warm iron-rich tones, use a color-enhancing or neutral impregnating sealer; reapply annually in bathrooms or kitchens and every 2–3 years in dry areas. Test the sealer in an inconspicuous area first, as some sealers can subtly alter the appearance of the amber and burgundy tones.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone soap or cleaner diluted in warm water; wipe dry immediately to prevent water spotting on the polished surface. Never use acidic cleaners (vinegar, citrus, grout haze removers) or alkaline degreasers — the polished marble surface is highly susceptible to etching from acids and will lose its high-gloss finish. Blot spills immediately, especially red wine, citrus, or coffee, which can etch or stain the lighter ivory fragment areas.

Installation: Use a white or ivory unsanded thinset mortar to prevent gray bleed-through on the lighter ivory and amber stone fragments. For 18×18 tiles, back-buttering each tile in addition to troweling the substrate is strongly recommended to ensure full coverage and prevent hollow spots. Use tile leveling clips during installation to maintain a flat, lippage-free surface. Allow a minimum 1/8-inch grout joint and use an unsanded or fine-sanded grout in a warm tone — ivory, buff, or warm gray — to complement the stone's palette.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Freight Delivery

  • Curbside delivery. The carrier unloads at the curb or driveway nearest your address; delivery does not include moving materials indoors or into a garage.

Natural Variation
Color, veining, texture, shade, movement, finish, and sizing vary from piece to piece. Product photos and samples are a general reference and may not match the exact material you receive. These variations are inherent characteristics of natural stone — they are part of its beauty, not defects.

Before You Install

  • Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes as you work to achieve the most natural, balanced appearance.
  • Dry-lay and inspect the full layout before setting a single tile.
  • Installation constitutes full acceptance of the product, so review everything carefully first.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
