Basalt Grey Basalt12 × 24 Bush Hammered

A charcoal-grey basalt with a pitted, matte bush hammered face, in a long 12 × 24 format.

Basalt Grey is a dense, fine-grained stone in an even charcoal-to-slate grey. The bush hammered face is pitted and matte. It absorbs light instead of reflecting it, which gives walls and floors a quiet, tactile weight.

The 12 × 24 format sets well in a stacked or staggered layout. Shade variation is slight (V2), so pieces read as one family with small shifts in tone. Sealing is recommended, and a soft brush helps clean the pitted surface.

Samples are $7.99 each, up to 10 per order. Samples ship free, within 1-3 business days. Your sample comes from the lot we have in stock now, so it shows that lot's actual color range and finish. Future lots may look lighter, darker, or more veined, so order your full quantity plus 10% at once to keep the whole job from one lot.

Where It Works

  • Feature wallThe pitted, matte face adds depth to a single wall in a living area or entry.
  • Bathroom wallA dark, tactile backdrop for a vanity wall or tub surround. Seal before use.
  • Entryway floorA grounded, low-traffic indoor floor. Sample it first to check how the texture feels underfoot.
  • Kitchen backsplashCharcoal grey sets off white oak, steel and black hardware. Seal well, as the texture can hold splashes.
  • Shower and pool floorsNot recommended until suitability for wet-area floors is confirmed for this product.
  • Commercial trafficNot recommended. Heavy commercial use is not specified for this tile.

Care & Cleaning

Seal It

Seal with a penetrating stone sealer before installation. The pitted surface can hold moisture and stains if left unsealed. Re-seal periodically.

Clean It

Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner in warm water, with a soft-bristle brush for the textured face. Avoid vinegar, citrus, bleach and other acidic cleaners.

Expect This

Natural stone shows tone and surface differences from piece to piece. Mix tiles from several boxes as you lay them, and order 10% extra for cuts and waste.

Tile & Mosaic Depot supplies material only. Installation method, setting materials, and substrate are your installer's responsibility. Inspect every piece before setting; installation is acceptance, and installed material cannot be returned or claimed.

Questions

Will my order look like the sample?

Your sample comes from the lot we have in stock now, so it shows that lot's actual color range and finish. Future lots may look lighter, darker, or more veined, so order your full quantity plus 10% at once to keep the whole job from one lot.

How do I order a sample?

Add up to 10 samples to one order at $7.99 each. Samples ship free, and they leave within 1-3 business days. Hold the sample in your own light to judge the grey and the texture.

How much should I order?

Measure your area and add 10% for cuts and waste. Each 12 × 24 piece covers 2 sq ft, and the tile is sold per sq ft. Ordering everything at once keeps the job in one lot.

Does this tile need sealing?

Sealing is recommended. Apply a penetrating stone sealer before installation and re-seal periodically. The bush hammered surface is pitted, so a sealer helps it resist moisture and stains.

What does bush hammered mean for the look and feel?

You get a matte, dimpled face with a visible texture and little glare. It feels rougher than a honed stone. Order a sample to judge the texture against your lighting and fixtures.

Why Order a Sample
A screen can't show you how Calacatta veining reads under your kitchen lights or how a porcelain finish sits next to your cabinet color. A sample can. It's the single best way to buy stone or porcelain tile with confidence — and the cheapest mistake you'll ever avoid.

How It Works
Samples are $7.99 each. Samples ship free and leave our warehouse within 1–3 business days. Sizes vary by material and availability — typically 3"×3" up to 8"×8" — and every sample is cut from the same material stocked for full orders.

What a Sample Shows
Color, texture, finish, and overall character. Because natural stone varies piece to piece, one sample represents the material but can't show the full range of a lot. Porcelain samples are highly representative of the production run. Want to see the current lot before you commit? Ask us — we'll send photos.

Good to Know

  • Samples are final sale — non-returnable and non-refundable.
  • We recommend sampling before every full order, especially for natural stone.

How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

  • The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
  • Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
  • Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
  • Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Free Shipping
Free curbside freight on qualifying mosaic and molding orders over $1,999 in the continental U.S. Field tile, porcelain, and other product types ship at freight rates shown at checkout. Not available to Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, or international addresses.

Damage & Shortages
Report within 3 calendar days of delivery with photos of the pallet, packaging, and affected pieces to sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com. Verified claims are covered. Shortages of 1–5 pieces are refunded rather than reshipped — which is why we recommend ordering 10% overage.

30-Day Returns
Uninstalled tile in full, unopened boxes may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Return freight is paid by the customer. Partial boxes, opened boxes, installed material, and samples are final sale.

Questions Before You Order?
Call (855) 797-8453 or email sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com, Monday–Friday 8:30 AM–5 PM PT. If you're unsure about freight access at your address, ask us before checkout — we'll flag anything that could hold up delivery.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

  • Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
  • Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
  • Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.

Responsibility
Tile & Mosaic Depot supplies material only. We are not responsible for installation, labor costs, substrate conditions, setting materials, product misuse, or damage from handling, sealing, maintenance, or chemicals. No claims, returns, or replacements are accepted on installed material.

California Proposition 65
