Sealing: Fossil Brown Limestone must be sealed before grouting and after installation with a penetrating stone sealer. In wet areas such as bathrooms, reapply sealer every 12 months to prevent moisture penetration and staining. The polished finish, while dense, remains susceptible to etching from acidic substances — sealing provides a critical first line of defense.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft mop or cloth — never use acidic cleaners such as vinegar, lemon-based products, or harsh abrasives, as these will etch and dull the polished surface. Wipe up spills, especially wine, citrus, and oil, immediately to prevent staining or etching. Avoid steam mops on polished limestone floors.

Installation: Use a white or gray polymer-modified thinset mortar suited for large-format natural stone tiles. Back-butter each tile in addition to applying thinset to the substrate to ensure full coverage and prevent lippage. Use tile leveling clips for the 12×24 format to maintain a flat, even surface. Allow the stone to acclimate to room temperature before installation and install with a 1/16" to 1/8" grout joint using unsanded or fine-sanded grout.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Color, veining, texture, shade, movement, finish, and sizing vary from piece to piece. Product photos and samples are a general reference and may not match the exact material you receive. These variations are inherent characteristics of natural stone — they are part of its beauty, not defects.

Before You Install

Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.
Blend tiles from multiple boxes as you work to achieve the most natural, balanced appearance.
Dry-lay and inspect the full layout before setting a single tile.
Installation constitutes full acceptance of the product, so review everything carefully first.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
