Sealing: Basalt is a porous volcanic stone and must be sealed with a penetrating stone sealer before grouting and use. In wet areas such as showers and pool surrounds, reseal every 12–18 months to maintain water and stain resistance. The raked texture channels can trap moisture, so thorough sealing of the entire face is essential.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner or mild dish soap diluted in warm water. Avoid acidic cleaners, vinegar, citrus-based products, or anything abrasive that could erode the raked grooves or open the stone's pores. Wipe spills promptly — particularly oils, wine, and pigmented liquids — as basalt can absorb stains quickly if unsealed.

Installation: Use a grey or charcoal unsanded thinset mortar to complement the stone's color and prevent bleed-through at the raked surface. Back-butter each tile fully given the 12×24 large format, and use leveling clips to maintain consistent plane across tiles. Allow for 1/8-inch grout joints minimum and use a matching grey unsanded or sanded grout depending on joint width. Ensure the substrate is flat to within 1/8 inch over 10 feet before installation.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Processing & Transit
In-stock orders are processed within 2–3 business days. Most tile and stone orders ship via scheduled LTL freight and typically arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on your destination. You'll receive tracking and carrier details by email as soon as your order leaves our warehouse.

Freight Delivery

  • Curbside delivery. The carrier unloads at the curb or driveway nearest your address; delivery does not include moving materials indoors or into a garage.
  • Scheduled appointment. The freight company contacts you directly to arrange a delivery window.
  • Signature required. An adult (18+) must be present to inspect and sign for the shipment.
  • Clear access. Please ensure the delivery site is reachable by a freight truck and free of obstructions.

Natural Variation
Color, veining, texture, shade, movement, finish, and sizing vary from piece to piece. Product photos and samples are a general reference and may not match the exact material you receive. These variations are inherent characteristics of natural stone — they are part of its beauty, not defects.

Before You Install

  • Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes as you work to achieve the most natural, balanced appearance.
  • Dry-lay and inspect the full layout before setting a single tile.
  • Installation constitutes full acceptance of the product, so review everything carefully first.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
