Sealing: Travertine is a porous stone and must be sealed before grouting and use. Apply a penetrating stone sealer prior to installation and reseal every 12–18 months in dry areas, or every 6–12 months in wet areas such as showers and pool surrounds. The unfilled surface is especially absorbent — ensure sealer fully penetrates all natural voids. For outdoor applications, use a sealer rated for exterior use with UV and moisture resistance.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and warm water only. Never use acidic cleaners, vinegar, citrus-based products, or abrasive scrubbers — acids will etch and damage the travertine surface. Wipe up spills promptly, especially acidic liquids such as wine, juice, or coffee. For the textured brushed surface, a soft-bristle brush can help remove debris from natural voids and crevices.

Installation: Use a white or ivory polymer-modified thinset mortar to avoid any gray bleed-through on this pale stone. Back-butter each large-format tile in addition to applying thinset to the substrate to ensure full, even coverage and prevent hollow spots. Align chiseled edges consistently for a uniform look, or vary orientation slightly for a more rustic effect. If filling the natural voids, use a matching travertine filler or unsanded grout before final grouting. Use a grout joint of at least 3/16 inch to accommodate the chiseled edge variation. For exterior or wet area installations, ensure proper substrate waterproofing and slope for drainage.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.
