Sealing: Travertine is a highly porous stone and must be sealed before grouting and regularly thereafter. Apply a penetrating stone sealer prior to installation and reseal every 12–18 months in high-use areas such as bathrooms and kitchens. The tumbled finish's open texture absorbs liquids more readily than a honed or polished surface, making diligent sealing especially critical.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and warm water using a soft mop or cloth. Never use acidic cleaners (vinegar, citrus), bleach, or abrasive scrubbers, as acids will etch and erode the calcium-based stone surface. Wipe up spills — especially wine, coffee, and citrus — immediately to prevent staining through the porous surface.

Installation: Use a white or ivory unsanded or medium-bed thinset mortar to prevent any gray bleed-through on light stone. Back-butter each tile in addition to troweling the substrate for full coverage, as large-format tiles require a minimum 95% mortar contact to prevent hollow spots and cracking. Fill natural voids before or after installation with travertine filler or matching grout for a smoother surface, or leave unfilled for a more rustic look.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Before You Install

Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.
Blend tiles from multiple boxes as you work to achieve the most natural, balanced appearance.
Dry-lay and inspect the full layout before setting a single tile.
Installation constitutes full acceptance of the product, so review everything carefully first.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
