About Ivory Travertine Vein Cut 12×24 Honed Tile

Material Education

Ivory Travertine is a classic sedimentary limestone formed over millennia by mineral-rich thermal springs, most notably quarried in the storied deposits of the Mediterranean region. Its vein-cut orientation reveals the stone's horizontal banding in full — flowing linear striations in warm ivory, cream, and soft caramel tones that run elegantly across each tile face. The honed finish softens any reflectivity, delivering a matte, velvety surface that emphasizes the stone's natural warmth and subtle depth.

As a genuine natural stone, each tile will exhibit its own unique combination of veining density, tonal shift, and characteristic travertine voids — this is the authentic signature of the material and a mark of its natural origin, not a manufacturing inconsistency.

About this tile: This 12×24 honed field tile features a vein-cut face that maximizes the flowing linear grain of the travertine, making it ideal for large-format wall and floor installations. The generous format means fewer grout joints, creating a cleaner, more expansive look across any surface.

Design & Inspiration

The warm ivory and caramel palette pairs beautifully with brushed brass or matte gold fixtures, white oak cabinetry, and creamy linen textiles, harmonizing naturally with Mediterranean, transitional, and warm contemporary interiors. It also complements soft greige wall paint, woven natural materials, and unlacquered brass hardware for a sophisticated, lived-in aesthetic.

The large 12×24 format is especially effective in bathrooms and open-plan living areas, where it can be laid in a horizontal stack or offset brick pattern to elongate walls and visually expand floor space. The honed finish provides a refined, spa-like serenity without the high-gloss formality of polished stone, making it approachable and warm in everyday environments.

Popular design combinations: pair with a Walnut Travertine mosaic accent border and brushed brass plumbing fixtures for a layered, resort-inspired master bath. Explore the full Travertine collection for coordinating sizes, and browse more natural stone tile for complementary looks.

Ivory Travertine Vein Cut 12×24 Honed Tile brings the timeless warmth of Mediterranean sedimentary stone into a versatile large-format field tile. The vein-cut orientation showcases the travertine's characteristic horizontal banding — soft ivory, cream, and caramel striations that flow seamlessly from tile to tile when properly aligned.

The honed finish produces a smooth, matte surface that diffuses light gently for an understated, spa-like effect, distinguishing it from polished travertine's brighter sheen. At 12×24 inches, the format minimizes grout lines and maximizes visual continuity, making installation both efficient and impactful on floors and walls alike.

This tile is ideal for master bathroom floors, shower walls, kitchen floors, and large feature walls where a calm, natural aesthetic is desired. Because travertine is a porous stone with natural voids, we recommend requesting samples to confirm fill level and tonal match before ordering; sealing prior to grouting is strongly advised for all installations.

Free Shipping: This product ships at standard freight rates calculated at checkout based on your location and order size.

Processing & Delivery: Orders are processed within 2–3 business days. Large orders ship via LTL freight — curbside delivery only. An adult must be present to sign for delivery. Estimated transit: 2–10 business days after shipment.

30-Day Returns: Uninstalled tile may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Inspect all tile carefully before installation — installed tile cannot be returned or exchanged. Samples are final sale.

Exclusions: Free shipping does not apply to Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, or international addresses. Additional charges may apply for remote delivery areas.

Sealing: Travertine is a porous, calcium-based stone and must be sealed before grouting and before first use. Apply a penetrating stone sealer rated for travertine and reseal every 12 months in wet areas such as showers, or every 1–2 years in drier applications like living room floors. Ivory and cream tones are especially susceptible to staining, so do not skip or delay sealing.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner diluted in warm water and a soft mop or microfiber cloth. Never use vinegar, lemon juice, bleach, ammonia, or any acidic or alkaline cleaner — these will etch and dull the honed surface and erode the stone's calcium matrix permanently. Blot spills immediately, especially from wine, coffee, citrus, and oil.

Installation: Use a white polymer-modified thinset mortar to prevent any gray bleed-through on light ivory tones. Back-butter each tile in addition to combing the substrate to ensure full coverage and eliminate hollow spots beneath the large format. Align tiles to follow the direction of the veining for a continuous, flowing effect across the installation. Fill natural travertine voids with matching grout or a premixed travertine filler prior to grouting for a refined finish.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Order 10% overage for cuts, waste, and future repairs. Tile & Mosaic Depot specialists are available M–F 8:30AM–5PM PST at 855-797-8453.

Why Order a Sample
A screen can't show you how Calacatta veining reads under your kitchen lights or how a porcelain finish sits next to your cabinet color. A sample can. It's the single best way to buy stone or porcelain tile with confidence — and the cheapest mistake you'll ever avoid.

How It Works
Samples are $7.99 each. Samples ship free and leave our warehouse within 1–3 business days. Sizes vary by material and availability — typically 3"×3" up to 8"×8" — and every sample is cut from the same material stocked for full orders.

What a Sample Shows
Color, texture, finish, and overall character. Because natural stone varies piece to piece, one sample represents the material but can't show the full range of a lot. Porcelain samples are highly representative of the production run. Want to see the current lot before you commit? Ask us — we'll send photos.

Good to Know

  • Samples are final sale — non-returnable and non-refundable.
  • We recommend sampling before every full order, especially for natural stone.
  • Larger or custom quantity? Contact us for a tailored quote.

How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

  • The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
  • Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
  • Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
  • Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Free Shipping
Free curbside freight on qualifying mosaic and molding orders over $1,999 in the continental U.S. Field tile, porcelain, and other product types ship at freight rates shown at checkout. Not available to Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, or international addresses.

Damage & Shortages
Report within 3 calendar days of delivery with photos of the pallet, packaging, and affected pieces to sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com. Verified claims are covered. Shortages of 1–5 pieces are refunded rather than reshipped — which is why we recommend ordering 10% overage.

30-Day Returns
Uninstalled tile in full, unopened boxes may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Return freight is paid by the customer. Partial boxes, opened boxes, installed material, and samples are final sale.

Questions Before You Order?
Call (855) 797-8453 or email sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com, Monday–Friday 8:30 AM–5 PM PT. If you're unsure about freight access at your address, ask us before checkout — we'll flag anything that could hold up delivery.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

  • Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
  • Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
  • Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.

Responsibility
Tile & Mosaic Depot supplies material only. We are not responsible for installation, labor costs, substrate conditions, setting materials, product misuse, or damage from handling, sealing, maintenance, or chemicals. No claims, returns, or replacements are accepted on installed material.
