Sealing: Honey onyx is a porous, soft stone that requires sealing before grouting and again after installation. In wet areas such as showers, reseal every 6–12 months with a penetrating, impregnating sealer specifically formulated for onyx or soft natural stone. Do not use topical sealers, which can cloud the polished surface.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft microfiber cloth only. Never use acidic cleaners (vinegar, citrus), alkaline degreasers, or abrasive scrubbers — onyx is highly susceptible to etching and scratching. Wipe up spills immediately, especially acidic substances like juice, wine, or soap scum. For the polished surface, periodic buffing with a stone polish formulated for onyx will help maintain the mirror-like sheen.

Installation: Use white polymer-modified thinset mortar to avoid any gray bleed-through on these translucent honey-toned tiles. Apply non-sanded grout for the narrow mosaic joints. Back-butter each sheet lightly in addition to combing the substrate to ensure full coverage and prevent hollow spots. Align mesh sheets carefully and maintain consistent grout joint spacing between sheets. Allow thinset to cure fully before grouting, and seal the stone before grouting to prevent grout staining.

Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
