About Calacatta Viola Marble Penny Round Polished Mosaic

Material Education

Calacatta Viola is a rare and luxurious Italian marble prized for its bright white base dramatically veined with deep violet, burgundy, and warm gold tones. Quarried from select mountain deposits in Europe, this stone displays a bold crystalline structure with a naturally luminous quality that intensifies under a high-polish finish. Its striking color contrast sets it apart from classic white Calacattas, making it a statement material in any interior.

As with all natural marble, each tile carries its own unique veining pattern and color distribution — slight variation from piece to piece is a hallmark of genuine stone and contributes to the organic beauty of the finished surface.

About this mosaic: Small penny round discs — typically about 1 inch in diameter — are pre-arranged in a classic circular pattern on a mesh-backed sheet, allowing for fast, accurate installation with consistent spacing. Each sheet covers approximately one square foot, dramatically reducing layout time compared to setting individual pieces.

Design & Inspiration

The white, violet, and gold palette of Calacatta Viola pairs beautifully with brushed brass or matte gold fixtures, warm white oak cabinetry, and deep charcoal or navy accents for a sophisticated modern-glam aesthetic. It also harmonizes effortlessly with chrome hardware and crisp white millwork in transitional and classic bathroom designs.

The penny round format adds tactile dimension and a retro-modern charm that feels equally at home in boutique spa bathrooms, powder rooms, and kitchen backsplashes. The polished finish amplifies the violet and gold veining, creating a jewel-like depth that transforms even small surfaces into focal points.

Popular design combinations: pair with honed Calacatta Viola field tiles on the wall and brushed brass fixtures for a cohesive, high-end spa bathroom. Explore the full Calacatta Marble collection for coordinating sizes, and browse more marble mosaics for complementary looks.

Premium Natural Stone
Secure Packaging

Calacatta Viola is one of the most distinctive marbles available, featuring a luminous white ground dramatically crossed by deep violet, burgundy, and warm gold veining — a combination that elevates it well above standard white marbles. Sourced from premium European quarries, this rare stone brings an unmistakable sense of luxury and artistry to any space.

Cut into classic penny round discs and polished to a mirror-like finish, these mosaic chips catch and reflect light beautifully, accentuating the stone's rich veining and crystalline surface. Pre-mounted on mesh backing, the sheets align easily during installation, making them a practical choice for both professional installers and experienced DIYers.

Ideal for bathroom floors, shower floors, backsplashes, and accent walls where a bold yet refined statement is desired. Because this is a clearance or specialty item, ordering a sample before committing to a full quantity is strongly recommended, and purchasing 10–15% overage will ensure enough material for cuts and future repairs.

Free Shipping: As a mosaic, this product qualifies for free curbside shipping on orders over $1,999 within the continental U.S. Orders below that threshold ship at standard rates calculated at checkout.

Processing & Delivery: Orders are processed within 2–3 business days. Large orders ship via LTL freight — curbside delivery only. An adult must be present to sign for delivery. Estimated transit: 2–10 business days after shipment.

30-Day Returns: Uninstalled tile may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Inspect all tile carefully before installation — installed tile cannot be returned or exchanged. Samples are final sale.

Exclusions: Free shipping does not apply to Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, or international addresses. Additional charges may apply for remote delivery areas.

Sealing: Calacatta Viola marble must be sealed before grouting and after installation with a premium penetrating stone sealer. In wet areas such as shower floors, reapply sealer every 6–12 months. The white base of this stone is particularly susceptible to staining, so consistent sealing is essential to preserve its appearance.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft cloth or mop — never use vinegar, lemon juice, bleach, or any acidic or alkaline cleaners, as these will etch the polished surface and dull the finish. Wipe up spills — especially wine, coffee, and oils — immediately to prevent staining on the light ground.

Installation: Use white polymer-modified thinset mortar to prevent any gray show-through beneath the translucent white marble chips. Apply non-sanded grout for the tight penny round joints to avoid scratching the polished surface. Align mesh sheets carefully edge-to-edge for consistent joint spacing, and back-butter individual chips in areas with uneven substrate for a flat, lippage-free result.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Order 10% overage for cuts, waste, and future repairs. Tile & Mosaic Depot specialists are available M–F 8:30AM–5PM PST at 855-797-8453.

Why Order a Sample
A screen can't show you how Calacatta veining reads under your kitchen lights or how a porcelain finish sits next to your cabinet color. A sample can. It's the single best way to buy stone or porcelain tile with confidence — and the cheapest mistake you'll ever avoid.

How It Works
Samples are $7.99 each. Samples ship free and leave our warehouse within 1–3 business days. Sizes vary by material and availability — typically 3"×3" up to 8"×8" — and every sample is cut from the same material stocked for full orders.

What a Sample Shows
Color, texture, finish, and overall character. Because natural stone varies piece to piece, one sample represents the material but can't show the full range of a lot. Porcelain samples are highly representative of the production run. Want to see the current lot before you commit? Ask us — we'll send photos.

Good to Know

  • Samples are final sale — non-returnable and non-refundable.
  • We recommend sampling before every full order, especially for natural stone.
  • Larger or custom quantity? Contact us for a tailored quote.

Talk to a Specialist
Our stone and tile specialists will help you narrow it down. Call (855) 797-8453 or email sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5 PM PT.

How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

  • The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
  • Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
  • Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
  • Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Free Shipping
Free curbside freight on qualifying mosaic and molding orders over $1,999 in the continental U.S. Field tile, porcelain, and other product types ship at freight rates shown at checkout. Not available to Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, or international addresses.

Damage & Shortages
Report within 3 calendar days of delivery with photos of the pallet, packaging, and affected pieces to sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com. Verified claims are covered. Shortages of 1–5 pieces are refunded rather than reshipped — which is why we recommend ordering 10% overage.

30-Day Returns
Uninstalled tile in full, unopened boxes may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Return freight is paid by the customer. Partial boxes, opened boxes, installed material, and samples are final sale.

Questions Before You Order?
Call (855) 797-8453 or email sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com, Monday–Friday 8:30 AM–5 PM PT. If you're unsure about freight access at your address, ask us before checkout — we'll flag anything that could hold up delivery.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

  • Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
  • Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
  • Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.

Responsibility
Tile & Mosaic Depot supplies material only. We are not responsible for installation, labor costs, substrate conditions, setting materials, product misuse, or damage from handling, sealing, maintenance, or chemicals. No claims, returns, or replacements are accepted on installed material.

California Proposition 65
