The Alaska Pearl Island mosaic brings together three luminous materials — premium Thassos White marble from the Greek island of Thassos, natural iridescent shell, and Paper White marble — in a captivating organic island arrangement that radiates coastal sophistication and timeless elegance.

Finished with a polished surface, the Thassos White and Paper White marble chips deliver a mirror-bright sheen, while the natural shell pieces introduce a soft iridescent shimmer that shifts with the angle of light. Mounted on a mesh backing, each sheet installs quickly and consistently, making it an efficient choice for both professional installers and skilled DIYers.

This mosaic is ideally suited for interior bathroom walls, shower surrounds, and kitchen backsplashes where its light-amplifying properties can be fully appreciated; it is not recommended for floor applications due to the delicate nature of the shell chips. Because Thassos White is an exceptionally bright, porous stone, sealing before and after grouting is strongly advised — ordering a sample first is recommended to confirm the color and iridescent effect in your specific lighting.

Processing & Delivery: Orders are processed within 2–3 business days. Large orders ship via LTL freight — curbside delivery only. An adult must be present to sign for delivery. Estimated transit: 2–10 business days after shipment.

30-Day Returns: Uninstalled tile may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Inspect all tile carefully before installation — installed tile cannot be returned or exchanged. Samples are final sale.

Sealing: Thassos White is a very bright, highly porous marble that absorbs stains readily — sealing is essential before grouting and again after installation. In wet areas such as showers, reseal every 6–12 months with a penetrating, impregnating stone sealer safe for use around natural shell. Avoid topical sealers that may cloud the shell's iridescence.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft microfiber cloth or non-abrasive sponge. Avoid all acidic cleaners (vinegar, citrus, bathroom descalers) as they will etch the polished marble surface and may damage the natural shell. Do not use abrasive scrubbers, which will dull the polish and scratch the shell. Wipe spills — especially oils, wine, and juice — immediately.

Installation: Use white polymer-modified thinset mortar to prevent any gray bleed-through on the bright white marble and shell. Apply non-sanded grout for the tight joints typical of mosaic work. Back-butter the mesh sheet lightly in addition to applying thinset to the substrate to ensure full coverage behind the shell chips. Align mesh sheet edges carefully to maintain consistent joint spacing across sheets. Do not cut through shell chips when trimming — plan cuts at marble chip joints wherever possible.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. A screen can't show you how Calacatta veining reads under your kitchen lights or how a porcelain finish sits next to your cabinet color. A sample can. It's the single best way to buy stone or porcelain tile with confidence — and the cheapest mistake you'll ever avoid.

How It Works
Samples are $7.99 each. Samples ship free and leave our warehouse within 1–3 business days. Sizes vary by material and availability — typically 3"×3" up to 8"×8" — and every sample is cut from the same material stocked for full orders.

What a Sample Shows
Color, texture, finish, and overall character. Because natural stone varies piece to piece, one sample represents the material but can't show the full range of a lot. Porcelain samples are highly representative of the production run. Want to see the current lot before you commit? Ask us — we'll send photos.

How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

  • The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
  • Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
  • Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
  • Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Damage & Shortages

30-Day Returns
Uninstalled tile in full, unopened boxes may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Return freight is paid by the customer. Partial boxes, opened boxes, installed material, and samples are final sale.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

  • Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
  • Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
  • Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.
