Sealing: Ivory travertine is a porous stone that requires sealing before grouting and after installation. Apply a penetrating stone sealer to all surfaces, paying special attention to any unfilled pores. In wet areas such as showers, reseal every 12 months or as recommended by your sealer manufacturer. The pale ivory tone makes staining more visible, so timely sealing is especially important.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft cloth or mop — never use vinegar, lemon juice, bleach, or any acidic or alkaline household cleaners, as these will etch and dull the honed surface. Blot spills immediately, especially oils, coffee, and wine. Avoid abrasive scrubbers that can scratch the matte honed finish.

Installation: Use white polymer-modified thinset mortar to prevent gray bleed-through on pale travertine. For the small mosaic chips, non-sanded grout is recommended for joints under 1/8 inch; use sanded grout for wider joints between sheets. Align mesh sheets carefully during layout to maintain consistent spacing and pattern flow. Back-butter each sheet lightly in addition to troweling the substrate to ensure full coverage and eliminate hollow spots.

Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
