Sealing: Honed Crema Marfil marble is more porous than polished marble and should be sealed with a penetrating stone sealer prior to grouting and installation. In wet areas such as showers or around sinks, reapply sealer every 6–12 months to protect against moisture penetration and staining. The light ivory tones of Crema Marfil are particularly susceptible to discoloration from oils, rust, and mineral deposits, so consistent sealing is strongly recommended.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner or mild dish soap diluted in warm water — never use acidic cleaners such as vinegar, lemon-based products, or bathroom tile sprays, as acids will etch the honed marble surface and cause dull spots. Avoid abrasive scrubbing pads. Wipe spills promptly, especially oils, wine, and citrus, which can stain light marble quickly. The honed finish, while more forgiving of surface scratches, is still vulnerable to etching from acidic contact.

Installation: Use white polymer-modified thinset mortar to prevent any gray or dark adhesive from telegraphing through the light-colored stone. Butter the back of each molding piece individually to ensure full adhesive coverage on this narrow-profile trim. Use non-sanded grout for joints under 1/8 inch. Align the quarter round profile flush with the face of the field tile for a seamless finished edge, and allow full cure time before sealing.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Color, veining, texture, shade, movement, finish, and sizing vary from piece to piece. Product photos and samples are a general reference and may not match the exact material you receive. These variations are inherent characteristics of natural stone — they are part of its beauty, not defects.

Before You Install

Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.
Blend tiles from multiple boxes as you work to achieve the most natural, balanced appearance.
Dry-lay and inspect the full layout before setting a single tile.
Installation constitutes full acceptance of the product, so review everything carefully first.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
