About Rondine Ardesie Dark 12×24 R11 Porcelain Tile

Material Education

Rondine Ardesie Dark is an Italian-engineered porcelain tile that captures the rugged, layered texture of natural slate. Its deep charcoal and graphite tones are enhanced by subtle surface relief, mimicking the cleaved planes and earthy striations found in genuine ardesia stone. The matte finish gives the tile a raw, sophisticated presence that reads both industrial and refined depending on its surroundings.

As a through-body porcelain product, slight tonal shifts and surface texture variations from piece to piece are intentional design features that replicate the organic character of real stone — no two tiles will appear completely identical.

About this tile: This 12×24 format is a versatile large-format field tile with an R11 anti-slip rating, making it equally suited to wet residential floors and outdoor applications. Its elongated rectangular format creates strong directional lines and a sense of expanded space.

Design & Inspiration

The deep charcoal palette of Ardesie Dark pairs beautifully with matte black fixtures, brushed nickel hardware, raw concrete surfaces, and warm-toned woods like walnut or smoked oak — ideal for industrial-modern, Scandinavian, or contemporary loft aesthetics. It also anchors transitional spaces when paired with white cabinetry and crisp grout lines.

The 12×24 format laid in a stacked or offset brick pattern amplifies the tile's linear texture, creating a dramatic, cohesive field effect on both floors and walls. Its R11 slip resistance makes it especially compelling for shower floors, outdoor patios, and entryways where both safety and style are required.

Popular design combinations: Ardesie Dark floor tile paired with Carrara marble mosaic shower walls and matte black fixtures for a bold contemporary contrast. Explore the full Porcelain Tile collection for coordinating sizes, and browse more porcelain tile for complementary looks.

Free Shipping: This product ships at standard freight rates calculated at checkout based on your location and order size.

Processing & Delivery: Orders are processed within 2–3 business days. Large orders ship via LTL freight — curbside delivery only. An adult must be present to sign for delivery. Estimated transit: 2–10 business days after shipment.

30-Day Returns: Uninstalled tile may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Inspect all tile carefully before installation — installed tile cannot be returned or exchanged. Samples are final sale.

Exclusions: Free shipping does not apply to Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, or international addresses. Additional charges may apply for remote delivery areas.

Sealing: Porcelain is non-porous and does not require sealing. No sealing maintenance is necessary for the tile surface itself; however, grout joints in wet areas should be sealed annually with a penetrating grout sealer to prevent staining and mildew.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral tile cleaner and a soft mop or cloth. The textured R11 surface may require a soft-bristle brush to remove debris from the relief pattern. Avoid acidic or bleach-based cleaners that can degrade grout over time. Do not use abrasive scrubbing pads.

Installation: Use a large-format tile trowel (¼″ × ½″ notch) and back-butter each tile for full adhesion coverage. For outdoor or wet areas, use a polymer-modified, frost-resistant thinset. Maintain a minimum 1/8″ grout joint. For outdoor installations, ensure proper slope for drainage and use exterior-rated grout.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Order 10% overage for cuts, waste, and future repairs. Tile & Mosaic Depot specialists are available M–F 8:30AM–5PM PST at 855-797-8453.

Why Order a Sample
A screen can't show you how Calacatta veining reads under your kitchen lights or how a porcelain finish sits next to your cabinet color. A sample can. It's the single best way to buy stone or porcelain tile with confidence — and the cheapest mistake you'll ever avoid.

How It Works
Samples are $7.99 each. Samples ship free and leave our warehouse within 1–3 business days. Sizes vary by material and availability — typically 3"×3" up to 8"×8" — and every sample is cut from the same material stocked for full orders.

What a Sample Shows
Color, texture, finish, and overall character. Because natural stone varies piece to piece, one sample represents the material but can't show the full range of a lot. Porcelain samples are highly representative of the production run. Want to see the current lot before you commit? Ask us — we'll send photos.

Good to Know

  • Samples are final sale — non-returnable and non-refundable.
  • We recommend sampling before every full order, especially for natural stone.
  • Larger or custom quantity? Contact us for a tailored quote.

Talk to a Specialist
Our stone and tile specialists will help you narrow it down. Call (855) 797-8453 or email sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5 PM PT.

How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

  • The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
  • Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
  • Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
  • Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Free Shipping
Free curbside freight on qualifying mosaic and molding orders over $1,999 in the continental U.S. Field tile, porcelain, and other product types ship at freight rates shown at checkout. Not available to Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, or international addresses.

Damage & Shortages
Report within 3 calendar days of delivery with photos of the pallet, packaging, and affected pieces to sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com. Verified claims are covered. Shortages of 1–5 pieces are refunded rather than reshipped — which is why we recommend ordering 10% overage.

30-Day Returns
Uninstalled tile in full, unopened boxes may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Return freight is paid by the customer. Partial boxes, opened boxes, installed material, and samples are final sale.

Questions Before You Order?
Call (855) 797-8453 or email sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com, Monday–Friday 8:30 AM–5 PM PT. If you're unsure about freight access at your address, ask us before checkout — we'll flag anything that could hold up delivery.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

  • Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
  • Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
  • Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.

Responsibility
Tile & Mosaic Depot supplies material only. We are not responsible for installation, labor costs, substrate conditions, setting materials, product misuse, or damage from handling, sealing, maintenance, or chemicals. No claims, returns, or replacements are accepted on installed material.
