Sealing: Travertine is a porous stone and must be sealed before grouting and use. Apply a penetrating stone sealer prior to installation and reseal every 6–12 months in wet areas such as showers. The honed finish, while more forgiving than polished, still requires consistent sealing to prevent staining from oils, soaps, and hard water minerals.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft cloth or mop. Avoid acidic cleaners such as vinegar, citrus-based products, or bleach, as they will etch and discolor travertine. Do not use abrasive scrubbers on the honed surface. Wipe up spills promptly, especially oils and acidic liquids.

Installation: Use white polymer-modified thinset mortar to avoid any gray bleed-through on lighter chips. Align mesh sheets carefully to maintain consistent diamond point orientation across the installation. Use non-sanded grout for joints under 1/8 inch. Back-butter each sheet lightly in addition to troweling the substrate for better adhesion on wall applications. Fill any natural voids or pits in the travertine with grout or stone filler during installation.
