Scabos travertine is one of the most sought-after travertine varieties in the world, celebrated for its bold walnut-brown and amber banding layered over creamy beige grounds — a color story shaped over millennia in the mineral-rich springs of the Middle East. Each 12×12 paver is a thick-cut slab of genuine natural stone, bringing heirloom character to any hardscape project.

Cut to a robust 3cm thickness and finished with a tumbled process that rounds all edges and imparts a naturally aged, antique texture, these pavers offer both visual depth and practical grip underfoot. The matte tumbled surface minimizes the appearance of surface scratches and weathering over time, making it an exceptionally low-maintenance outdoor stone.

Scabos 3cm pavers are ideal for pool decks, patios, driveways, walkways, and garden paths where a thicker paver-style installation is preferred — they can be set directly on a compacted sand-and-gravel base or mortared over a concrete slab. Because this is a clearance or specialty-format item, ordering a sample before committing to a full quantity is strongly recommended to confirm color and texture match your project.

Free Shipping: This product ships at standard freight rates calculated at checkout based on your location and order size.

Processing & Delivery: Orders are processed within 2–3 business days. Large orders ship via LTL freight — curbside delivery only. An adult must be present to sign for delivery. Estimated transit: 2–10 business days after shipment.

30-Day Returns: Uninstalled tile may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Inspect all tile carefully before installation — installed tile cannot be returned or exchanged. Samples are final sale.

Exclusions: Free shipping does not apply to Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, or international addresses. Additional charges may apply for remote delivery areas.

Sealing: Scabos travertine is a porous natural stone and must be sealed before use outdoors. Apply a penetrating, water- and oil-repellent sealer rated for travertine prior to grouting, and reseal every 12 months in pool and high-moisture environments or every 1–2 years for standard patio use. In freeze-thaw climates, diligent annual sealing is critical to prevent moisture absorption and spalling.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner diluted in water; never use acidic cleaners, vinegar, citrus-based products, or bleach, as these will etch and erode the travertine surface over time. For outdoor use, a gentle pressure wash on a low setting with a fan tip is acceptable for routine cleaning, but avoid concentrated high-pressure streams directly on the stone. Remove leaf tannin stains and organic matter promptly to prevent deep staining.

Installation: For sand-set paver installation, prepare a compacted gravel base topped with a 1-inch bedding layer of coarse sand and ensure proper drainage slope (minimum ¼ inch per foot away from structures). For mortar-set applications over a concrete slab, use a full-coverage polymer-modified thinset and back-butter each paver to eliminate voids. Fill natural voids in the travertine face with a matching color grout or travertine filler prior to sealing. Use a rubber mallet to set pavers evenly and check for lippage frequently. Leave appropriate expansion joints at borders and around fixed structures.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Order 10% overage for cuts, waste, and future repairs. Tile & Mosaic Depot specialists are available M–F 8:30AM–5PM PST at 855-797-8453.

Why Order a Sample
A screen can't show you how Calacatta veining reads under your kitchen lights or how a porcelain finish sits next to your cabinet color. A sample can. It's the single best way to buy stone or porcelain tile with confidence — and the cheapest mistake you'll ever avoid.

How It Works
Samples are $7.99 each. Samples ship free and leave our warehouse within 1–3 business days. Sizes vary by material and availability — typically 3"×3" up to 8"×8" — and every sample is cut from the same material stocked for full orders.

What a Sample Shows
Color, texture, finish, and overall character. Because natural stone varies piece to piece, one sample represents the material but can't show the full range of a lot. Porcelain samples are highly representative of the production run. Want to see the current lot before you commit? Ask us — we'll send photos.

Good to Know

  • Samples are final sale — non-returnable and non-refundable.
  • We recommend sampling before every full order, especially for natural stone.
  • Larger or custom quantity? Contact us for a tailored quote.

How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

  • The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
  • Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
  • Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
  • Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Free Shipping
Free curbside freight on qualifying mosaic and molding orders over $1,999 in the continental U.S. Field tile, porcelain, and other product types ship at freight rates shown at checkout. Not available to Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, or international addresses.

Damage & Shortages
Report within 3 calendar days of delivery with photos of the pallet, packaging, and affected pieces to sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com. Verified claims are covered. Shortages of 1–5 pieces are refunded rather than reshipped — which is why we recommend ordering 10% overage.

30-Day Returns
Uninstalled tile in full, unopened boxes may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Return freight is paid by the customer. Partial boxes, opened boxes, installed material, and samples are final sale.

Questions Before You Order?
Call (855) 797-8453 or email sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com, Monday–Friday 8:30 AM–5 PM PT. If you're unsure about freight access at your address, ask us before checkout — we'll flag anything that could hold up delivery.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

  • Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
  • Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
  • Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.

Responsibility
Tile & Mosaic Depot supplies material only. We are not responsible for installation, labor costs, substrate conditions, setting materials, product misuse, or damage from handling, sealing, maintenance, or chemicals. No claims, returns, or replacements are accepted on installed material.

California Proposition 65
Some natural stone and porcelain products contain substances known to the State of California to cause cancer or reproductive harm. Details at www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.
