Sealing: Scabos travertine is a porous stone and must be sealed before installation and grouting. Apply a penetrating stone sealer and reapply at least once a year in wet areas such as bathrooms and pool surrounds, and every 2–3 years in dry interior applications. The tumbled finish is particularly absorbent due to its open pores and soft surface texture.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner diluted in water — never use vinegar, citrus-based products, bleach, or abrasive scrubbers, as these will etch and erode the travertine surface over time. For daily maintenance, a damp mop or soft cloth is sufficient. Wipe up spills — especially acidic liquids like wine, juice, or coffee — immediately to prevent staining.

Installation: Fill natural pits and voids in the travertine surface with grout or a color-matched filler prior to or during installation for a smoother result, or leave them unfilled for a more rustic look. Use a white or beige polymer-modified thinset mortar to avoid color bleed-through on lighter tiles. Back-butter each tile to ensure full coverage, and use an unsanded or medium-bed grout in a complementary earth tone. Allow full cure before sealing.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Before You Install

Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.
Blend tiles from multiple boxes as you work to achieve the most natural, balanced appearance.
Dry-lay and inspect the full layout before setting a single tile.
Installation constitutes full acceptance of the product, so review everything carefully first.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
