Sealing: White Carrara marble is porous and should be sealed with a premium penetrating stone sealer before grouting and immediately after installation. In wet areas such as showers and shower floors, re-seal every 6–12 months to prevent moisture infiltration, staining, and efflorescence. The pale background of Carrara is particularly susceptible to discoloration from oils, soaps, and hard water minerals, making consistent sealing essential.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner diluted in warm water and a soft mop or microfiber cloth. Avoid all acidic cleaners including vinegar, lemon-based products, and grout haze removers, as acids etch the honed surface and can leave dull marks that are difficult to reverse. Wipe up spills — especially red wine, coffee, and citrus — immediately to prevent staining on the light marble background.

Installation: Always use white polymer-modified thinset mortar to prevent gray adhesive from telegraphing through the pale marble. Install mesh sheets face-up, pressing evenly across the full sheet with a grout float or rubber mallet and beating block to ensure all chips are fully embedded. Use non-sanded grout for joints under 1/8 inch to avoid scratching the honed surface during grouting. Back-butter each sheet for superior bond on floor applications, and allow full cure before grouting.

Sealing & Care

Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
