Sealing: Walnut Travertine must be sealed prior to installation and re-sealed every 1–2 years, especially in outdoor settings, pool surrounds, and high-moisture environments. Use a penetrating impregnating sealer designed for porous natural stone; a color-enhancing sealer can deepen the walnut tones if desired. The natural voids in travertine may be filled with grout or left open — if left open, sealing is especially critical to prevent moisture and debris infiltration.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft mop or brush — never use acidic cleaners, vinegar, citrus-based products, or muriatic acid, which will etch and dissolve the travertine surface. For outdoor pavers, rinse regularly to remove organic debris and treat any biological growth (moss, algae) with a stone-safe biocide rather than bleach-based products. Avoid pressure washing at high settings, which can erode the tumbled surface texture over time.

Installation: Use a polymer-modified thinset rated for exterior and large-format applications; for outdoor installations subject to freeze-thaw cycles, select a flexible, frost-resistant thinset. The natural voids in travertine should be back-buttered thoroughly to ensure full coverage and prevent hollow spots under the tile. Allow for appropriate expansion joints in outdoor installations, especially in climates with significant temperature swings. Use sanded grout in joints 1/8 inch or wider; a warm buff or walnut-toned grout will complement the stone's earthy palette.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Color, texture, finish, and overall character. Because natural stone varies piece to piece, one sample represents the material but can't show the full range of a lot. How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.
