Sealing: Scabos travertine is a porous stone that must be sealed prior to installation and resealed annually, especially in exterior or high-exposure environments. Use a penetrating impregnating sealer formulated for travertine; apply two coats to ensure the natural voids and fissures are thoroughly protected against moisture infiltration and staining.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft brush to dislodge dust and debris from the textured split-face crevices. Never use acidic cleaners, vinegar, citrus-based products, or harsh scrubbing pads — acids will etch and erode the travertine surface over time. For exterior applications, a low-pressure rinse is effective for routine maintenance.

Installation: Install using a polymer-modified white or gray thinset mortar appropriate for heavy natural stone; back-butter each panel thoroughly and press firmly to ensure full contact across the relief surface. Use a level frequently to maintain consistent horizontal alignment across the linear stack pattern. Grout joints are typically kept tight or left unfilled for a dry-stack look; if grouting, use unsanded grout matched to the stone's earthy tones. Allow 24–48 hours cure time before exposing panels to moisture.

How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.
