Sealing: Durango travertine is a highly porous stone and must be sealed before grouting and again after installation. Apply a penetrating stone sealer and reseal every 12–18 months in wet areas such as showers and kitchen backsplashes. The tumbled finish and open pores make this stone especially susceptible to staining without proper sealer coverage.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft cloth or mop — never use acidic cleaners (vinegar, citrus), bleach, or abrasive scrubbers, as these will etch and erode the stone surface. Wipe up spills promptly, especially acidic liquids like wine, coffee, and juice. For tumbled travertine, avoid high-pressure steam on grouted joints.

Installation: Use a white or buff-toned polymer-modified thinset to avoid color bleed-through on the warm-toned stone. Fill open pores and voids with unsanded grout or a travertine filler prior to grouting if a smooth surface is desired, or leave natural for a more rustic look. Back-butter each tile for full coverage, and use a grout shade that complements the stone's warm tones — linen, mocha, or sandstone tones are recommended.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Before You Install

Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.
Blend tiles from multiple boxes as you work to achieve the most natural, balanced appearance.
Dry-lay and inspect the full layout before setting a single tile.
Installation constitutes full acceptance of the product, so review everything carefully first.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
