Sealing: Travertine is a naturally porous stone and requires sealing prior to installation and again after grouting. In wet areas such as showers, reseal every 12–18 months using a penetrating impregnating sealer designed for natural stone. The honed finish, while less reflective than polished, still requires consistent sealing to prevent moisture and stain absorption.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. Avoid acidic cleaners, vinegar, lemon-based products, or bleach, which will etch and damage the travertine surface. Wipe spills promptly, especially oils, wine, and acidic liquids, to prevent staining on the honed surface.

Installation: Use white thinset mortar to prevent any gray bleed-through on this pale ivory stone. Apply thinset to both the substrate and the back of each piece (back-buttering) to ensure full coverage and a solid bond. Use non-sanded grout for joints under 1/8 inch. Ensure the substrate is flat, plumb, and free of flex before installation.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Color, veining, texture, shade, movement, finish, and sizing vary from piece to piece. Product photos and samples are a general reference and may not match the exact material you receive. These variations are inherent characteristics of natural stone — they are part of its beauty, not defects.

Before You Install

Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.
Blend tiles from multiple boxes as you work to achieve the most natural, balanced appearance.
Dry-lay and inspect the full layout before setting a single tile.
Installation constitutes full acceptance of the product, so review everything carefully first.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
