Sealing: Honed travertine is more porous than polished stone and should be sealed with a penetrating stone sealer before installation and again every 6–12 months in wet areas such as showers. In drier applications like a kitchen backsplash border, annual sealing is generally sufficient. Pay extra attention to natural pits and voids, ensuring sealer is worked into any open pores.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft cloth or sponge only. Avoid acidic cleaners, vinegar, citrus-based products, and abrasive scrubbing pads, which can etch or dull the honed surface and erode the stone's natural character over time. Wipe spills promptly, especially oils, wine, and acidic liquids.

Installation: Use white polymer-modified thinset mortar to prevent any gray or dark adhesive from showing through the porous stone. Back-butter each molding piece thoroughly to ensure full contact and prevent hollow spots. For open pits and voids visible on the surface, fill with a color-matched travertine filler or unsanded grout before sealing. Use non-sanded grout for tight joints and ensure molding pieces are level and plumb against the wall surface.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Before You Install

Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.
Blend tiles from multiple boxes as you work to achieve the most natural, balanced appearance.
Dry-lay and inspect the full layout before setting a single tile.
Installation constitutes full acceptance of the product, so review everything carefully first.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
