Sealing: Travertine is a porous stone and must be sealed before grouting and after installation. Apply a penetrating stone sealer rated for travertine prior to use, and reseal every 12 months in dry areas or every 6 months in wet areas such as showers. The tumbled finish and natural voids can harbor moisture if left unsealed, so consistent sealing is essential.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner or mild dish soap diluted in warm water. Never use acidic cleaners such as vinegar, lemon-based products, or citrus solutions — acids will etch and dissolve the calcium-based surface of travertine. Avoid abrasive scrubbing pads that can roughen the tumbled surface further or dislodge grout.

Installation: Use white or ivory unsanded or sanded grout depending on joint width — for standard mosaic joints under 1/8 inch, use unsanded grout to prevent scratching. Set with a white polymer-modified thinset mortar to prevent dark adhesive from telegraphing through the light stone. Back-butter individual chips in addition to spreading thinset on the substrate for full coverage. Align mesh sheets carefully and press firmly with a grout float to ensure even embedding. Fill any natural surface voids with grout or travertine filler before final grouting.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Before You Install

Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.
Blend tiles from multiple boxes as you work to achieve the most natural, balanced appearance.
Dry-lay and inspect the full layout before setting a single tile.
Installation constitutes full acceptance of the product, so review everything carefully first.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
