About Ivory Travertine 4×4 Tumbled Tile

Material Education

Ivory Travertine is a classic sedimentary limestone formed by mineral-rich spring waters, quarried from deposits renowned for their warm, creamy tones. Its surface displays a gentle interplay of ivory, beige, and soft gold hues, accented by the characteristic pitting and voids that give travertine its beloved organic texture. The stone carries subtle linear banding and earthy undertones that bring natural warmth to any space.

As a genuine natural stone, each tile will exhibit its own unique coloring, veining, and surface character — slight differences between pieces are the hallmark of authentic travertine and contribute to the handcrafted beauty of the finished installation.

About this tile: This 4×4 format is a versatile square field tile tumbled to produce softly worn, antiqued edges and a matte, tactile surface. The tumbling process rounds all corners and edges, giving each piece the appearance of time-worn stone that feels both rustic and refined.

Design & Inspiration

The warm ivory and golden-beige palette pairs beautifully with aged brass or oil-rubbed bronze fixtures, weathered white oak cabinetry, and natural linen textiles, fitting seamlessly into Mediterranean, Tuscan, Old World, and transitional interior styles. The muted, earthy tones also complement soft greige walls, terracotta accents, and warm-toned wood floors.

The 4×4 square format is especially well-suited for shower walls, backsplashes, and feature niches where a smaller tile scale adds texture and visual interest without overwhelming the space. The tumbled finish diffuses light softly, lending a relaxed, spa-like ambiance and disguising everyday wear far better than a polished surface.

Popular design combinations: pair with a Walnut Noce travertine border molding and warm brass fixtures for a classic Old World bathroom retreat. Explore the full Travertine collection for coordinating sizes, and browse more natural stone tile for complementary looks.

Ivory Travertine is a time-honored natural stone prized for its warm creamy tones, organic surface texture, and characteristic voids and pitting — qualities formed over millennia by calcium-rich spring deposits. Quarried from classic travertine-bearing regions, this stone brings an enduring sense of earthly elegance to both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Each 4×4 tile has been tumbled to create softly rounded edges, antiqued corners, and a naturally matte surface that evokes the look of centuries-old stonework. The finish is forgiving of footfall and everyday use, and the compact square format installs easily in straight-set or offset patterns with excellent coverage on both walls and floors.

This tile is offered as a clearance item, meaning stock is limited and available while supplies last — ordering a sample is strongly recommended to confirm color match before purchasing full quantities. Ideal for bathroom walls, shower surrounds, backsplashes, and accent floors, this tumbled ivory travertine delivers authentic Old World character at exceptional value.

Free Shipping: This product ships at standard freight rates calculated at checkout based on your location and order size.

Processing & Delivery: Orders are processed within 2–3 business days. Large orders ship via LTL freight — curbside delivery only. An adult must be present to sign for delivery. Estimated transit: 2–10 business days after shipment.

30-Day Returns: Uninstalled tile may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Inspect all tile carefully before installation — installed tile cannot be returned or exchanged. Samples are final sale.

Exclusions: Free shipping does not apply to Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, or international addresses. Additional charges may apply for remote delivery areas.

Sealing: Travertine is a porous natural stone and must be sealed before grouting and regularly thereafter. Apply a penetrating stone sealer prior to installation and reseal every 12–18 months in wet areas such as showers or around sinks. The open voids of tumbled travertine can trap moisture and cleaning residue, making thorough sealing especially important.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft mop or cloth. Never use acidic cleaners such as vinegar, citrus-based products, or bleach, as acids will etch and pit travertine surfaces. Avoid abrasive scrubbers that can erode the softened tumbled edges. Wipe spills promptly, particularly acidic liquids like wine, juice, or coffee.

Installation: Use a white polymer-modified thinset mortar to prevent gray bleed-through on the warm ivory stone. Back-butter each tile in addition to spreading thinset on the substrate to ensure full coverage and prevent hollow spots. Fill natural surface voids with grout or a travertine filler during installation for a cleaner look, or leave unfilled for a more rustic character. Use sanded grout for joints 1/8 inch or wider, which is typical for tumbled stone.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Order 10% overage for cuts, waste, and future repairs. Tile & Mosaic Depot specialists are available M–F 8:30AM–5PM PST at 855-797-8453.

Why Order a Sample
A screen can't show you how Calacatta veining reads under your kitchen lights or how a porcelain finish sits next to your cabinet color. A sample can. It's the single best way to buy stone or porcelain tile with confidence — and the cheapest mistake you'll ever avoid.

How It Works
Samples are $7.99 each. Samples ship free and leave our warehouse within 1–3 business days. Sizes vary by material and availability — typically 3"×3" up to 8"×8" — and every sample is cut from the same material stocked for full orders.

What a Sample Shows
Color, texture, finish, and overall character. Because natural stone varies piece to piece, one sample represents the material but can't show the full range of a lot. Porcelain samples are highly representative of the production run. Want to see the current lot before you commit? Ask us — we'll send photos.

Good to Know

  • Samples are final sale — non-returnable and non-refundable.
  • We recommend sampling before every full order, especially for natural stone.
  • Larger or custom quantity? Contact us for a tailored quote.

Talk to a Specialist
Our stone and tile specialists will help you narrow it down. Call (855) 797-8453 or email sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5 PM PT.

How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

  • The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
  • Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
  • Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
  • Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Free Shipping
Free curbside freight on qualifying mosaic and molding orders over $1,999 in the continental U.S. Field tile, porcelain, and other product types ship at freight rates shown at checkout. Not available to Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, or international addresses.

Damage & Shortages
Report within 3 calendar days of delivery with photos of the pallet, packaging, and affected pieces to sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com. Verified claims are covered. Shortages of 1–5 pieces are refunded rather than reshipped — which is why we recommend ordering 10% overage.

30-Day Returns
Uninstalled tile in full, unopened boxes may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Return freight is paid by the customer. Partial boxes, opened boxes, installed material, and samples are final sale.

Questions Before You Order?
Call (855) 797-8453 or email sales@tileandmosaicdepot.com, Monday–Friday 8:30 AM–5 PM PT. If you're unsure about freight access at your address, ask us before checkout — we'll flag anything that could hold up delivery.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

  • Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
  • Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
  • Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.

Responsibility
Tile & Mosaic Depot supplies material only. We are not responsible for installation, labor costs, substrate conditions, setting materials, product misuse, or damage from handling, sealing, maintenance, or chemicals. No claims, returns, or replacements are accepted on installed material.

California Proposition 65
