Sealing: Travertine is a porous stone and must be sealed before grouting and again after installation. In wet areas such as showers and bathroom floors, reseal every 12–18 months using a penetrating stone sealer. The tumbled finish, while matte, still benefits from sealing to prevent deep staining from oils, grout haze, and moisture.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and warm water — never use vinegar, citrus-based cleaners, bleach, or acidic products, as these will etch and dissolve travertine's calcium-based surface. For the tumbled finish, a soft brush or non-abrasive mop works well to reach the textured surface without scratching. Wipe up spills promptly, especially acidic substances like wine, coffee, or juice.

Installation: Use white polymer-modified thinset mortar to prevent any gray bleed-through on the light ivory chips. Align mesh sheets carefully, maintaining consistent grout joint spacing between sheets. Use a non-sanded grout for joints under 1/8 inch, or sanded grout for larger joints — confirm joint size after dry-laying sheets. Fill any natural voids in the travertine with grout or a matching travertine filler prior to sealing for a clean finished surface.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.
