Lunar Midnight is a premium vitrified porcelain tile designed from the ground up for aquatic applications, delivering the striking visual drama of deep black stone with the durability and chemical resistance that pool environments demand. Its dense, non-porous body resists water absorption, freeze-thaw cycles, and pool chemicals, making it an ideal choice for both residential and commercial pool projects in any climate.

The 6×6 format features a smooth satin surface that enhances the tile's inky depth while providing a subtle slip-resistant quality appropriate for waterline and wall applications. Installed in a straight-set grid with tight joints, the tiles create the signature 'black mirror' effect — an uninterrupted dark field that makes pool water appear brilliantly deep and luminous, especially under direct sunlight or underwater lighting.

Lunar Midnight is recommended for pool waterlines, full pool shell lining, spa interiors, water feature walls, and outdoor shower floors; it is rated for full submersion and frost resistance. Because this series is a pool specialty tile offered in limited inventory, ordering a sample before committing to a full project quantity is strongly advised, and purchasing 10–15% overage to account for cuts and future repairs is recommended.

Sealing: As a vitrified porcelain, Lunar Midnight does not require sealing for water resistance. However, applying a grout sealer to joints after installation is strongly recommended, especially in chemically treated pool water environments; reseal grout lines annually or per your pool maintenance schedule.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral tile cleaner or a diluted solution of pool-safe tile soap. Avoid acidic cleaners, muriatic acid, and abrasive scrub pads, which can etch the satin surface finish and discolor grout over time. For calcium or efflorescence deposits at the waterline, use a non-acid mineral deposit remover formulated for pool tiles.

Installation: Use a white or light-gray polymer-modified thinset rated for wet and submerged applications; dark-bodied thinset can bleed through joints and alter the appearance of the surface. Back-butter each tile in addition to applying thinset to the substrate for maximum bond strength in full-immersion settings. Maintain a minimum 1/16-inch grout joint and use a sanded, pool-rated epoxy grout for durability and chemical resistance. Ensure the substrate is waterproofed with a pool-grade membrane before tiling.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. A screen can't show you how Calacatta veining reads under your kitchen lights or how a porcelain finish sits next to your cabinet color. A sample can. It's the single best way to buy stone or porcelain tile with confidence — and the cheapest mistake you'll ever avoid.

How It Works
Samples are $7.99 each. Samples ship free and leave our warehouse within 1–3 business days. Sizes vary by material and availability — typically 3"×3" up to 8"×8" — and every sample is cut from the same material stocked for full orders.

What a Sample Shows
Color, texture, finish, and overall character. Because natural stone varies piece to piece, one sample represents the material but can't show the full range of a lot. Porcelain samples are highly representative of the production run. Want to see the current lot before you commit? Ask us — we'll send photos.

How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

  • The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
  • Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
  • Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
  • Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Uninstalled tile in full, unopened boxes may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Return freight is paid by the customer. Partial boxes, opened boxes, installed material, and samples are final sale.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

  • Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
  • Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
  • Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.
