The Micronesia Takatik Eastern Black mosaic showcases one of the most dramatically dark natural marbles available — a stone with a deep charcoal-to-jet-black base punctuated by delicate silver veining, sourced from select quarries in Asia and prized for its density and refined grain.

What sets this mosaic apart is its sophisticated combination of polished and honed finishes arranged within the same Takatik geometric pattern: polished chips deliver a mirror-like sheen that intensifies the stone's dark depth, while honed chips offer a velvety matte softness — together creating a subtle surface texture and a visually rich, light-dynamic effect. The mesh backing ensures each sheet installs quickly and uniformly, with chip spacing maintained perfectly throughout.

Ideal for feature walls, shower surrounds, kitchen backsplashes, and luxury accent applications, this mosaic is best suited for indoor wall use; if used in wet floor areas, additional anti-slip measures and sealing are strongly recommended. Because natural black marble can vary in undertone and veining from lot to lot, ordering a sample before committing to a full project quantity is highly advised.

Processing & Delivery: Orders are processed within 2–3 business days. Large orders ship via LTL freight — curbside delivery only. An adult must be present to sign for delivery. Estimated transit: 2–10 business days after shipment.

30-Day Returns: Uninstalled tile may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Inspect all tile carefully before installation — installed tile cannot be returned or exchanged. Samples are final sale.

Sealing: Eastern Black marble should be sealed with a penetrating stone sealer prior to grouting and installation. In wet areas such as showers, reseal every 6–12 months to prevent moisture infiltration and staining. While dark marble shows fewer water spots than light stones, consistent sealing preserves the stone's integrity and finish over time.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft, non-abrasive cloth or mop. Avoid acidic cleaners (vinegar, citrus-based products), bleach, or harsh alkaline solutions — acids will etch the polished surface and dull its mirror-like sheen. Wipe spills promptly, especially oils or colored liquids, as marble is porous despite its dark appearance.

Installation: Use white or light gray polymer-modified thinset mortar for best adhesion and to avoid any bleed-through color affecting translucent areas of the stone. Non-sanded grout is recommended for the tight joints typical of mosaic chip installations. Align mesh sheets carefully, checking pattern continuity across sheet seams before setting. Back-butter individual sheets when installing on vertical surfaces to ensure full coverage and prevent voids.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. A screen can't show you how Calacatta veining reads under your kitchen lights or how a porcelain finish sits next to your cabinet color. A sample can. It's the single best way to buy stone or porcelain tile with confidence — and the cheapest mistake you'll ever avoid.

How It Works
Samples are $7.99 each. Samples ship free and leave our warehouse within 1–3 business days. Sizes vary by material and availability — typically 3"×3" up to 8"×8" — and every sample is cut from the same material stocked for full orders.

What a Sample Shows
Color, texture, finish, and overall character. Because natural stone varies piece to piece, one sample represents the material but can't show the full range of a lot. Porcelain samples are highly representative of the production run. Want to see the current lot before you commit? Ask us — we'll send photos.

How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

  • The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
  • Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
  • Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
  • Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Damage & Shortages

Uninstalled tile in full, unopened boxes may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Return freight is paid by the customer. Partial boxes, opened boxes, installed material, and samples are final sale.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

  • Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
  • Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
  • Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.
