The Rockefeller Black Crown mosaic is crafted from polished Black Jade, a dense serpentinite stone from Asia renowned for its deep, glossy black surface with subtle dark green mineral undertones. Brass metal accents are integrated into the crown pattern, introducing warm golden tones that play beautifully against the stone's reflective finish.

Polished to a high mirror sheen, the Black Jade elements contrast with the brushed brass inserts to create a tactile, multi-dimensional surface. 30-Day Returns: Uninstalled tile may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Inspect all tile carefully before installation — installed tile cannot be returned or exchanged. Samples are final sale.

Sealing: Black Jade is denser than most marbles but should still be sealed with a penetrating natural stone sealer prior to grouting. In wet areas such as showers, reseal annually to protect both the stone and the brass inlays from moisture infiltration. The brass elements may develop a natural patina over time — a sealer helps slow this process and maintain the original finish.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft microfiber cloth only. Never use acidic cleaners (vinegar, citrus-based products), abrasive scrubbers, or harsh chemicals, as these will etch the polished stone surface and corrode or discolor the brass accents. Wipe up spills immediately, especially acidic liquids, to prevent etching on the high-gloss finish.

Installation: Use white or light gray polymer-modified thinset mortar to avoid any bleed-through on the stone. Because of the mixed stone-and-metal composition, ensure the substrate is perfectly flat and stable before installation. Use non-sanded grout for mosaic joints to prevent scratching the polished stone and brass surfaces. Align mesh sheets carefully to maintain the crown pattern continuity across sheets, and dry-lay several sheets before adhering to confirm the pattern alignment.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. A screen can't show you how Calacatta veining reads under your kitchen lights or how a porcelain finish sits next to your cabinet color. A sample can. It's the single best way to buy stone or porcelain tile with confidence — and the cheapest mistake you'll ever avoid.

How It Works
Samples are $7.99 each. Samples ship free and leave our warehouse within 1–3 business days. Sizes vary by material and availability — typically 3"×3" up to 8"×8" — and every sample is cut from the same material stocked for full orders.

What a Sample Shows
Color, texture, finish, and overall character. Because natural stone varies piece to piece, one sample represents the material but can't show the full range of a lot. Porcelain samples are highly representative of the production run. Want to see the current lot before you commit? Ask us — we'll send photos.

How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

  • The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
  • Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
  • Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
  • Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Damage & Shortages

Uninstalled tile in full, unopened boxes may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Return freight is paid by the customer. Partial boxes, opened boxes, installed material, and samples are final sale.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

  • Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
  • Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
  • Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.
