About Volume Sage Italian Porcelain Tile

Material Education

Volume Sage is a refined Italian porcelain tile engineered to replicate the look of weathered concrete and natural stone in a warm sage green tonality. Produced in Italy using advanced digital printing technology, it captures subtle surface texture, micro-variations in tone, and a matte finish that feels organic and grounded. The result is a tile that reads as both architectural and earthy, with a sophisticated muted palette that elevates any interior.

As with all digitally printed porcelain, slight shade variation from batch to batch is inherent to the manufacturing process — ordering enough material from a single lot is always recommended.

About this tile: This 2 1/3 × 10 inch format is a slender, elongated plank-style tile perfectly scaled for linear installations — whether stacked, offset, or used as an accent band within a larger tile field. Its narrow-and-long proportion creates strong directional movement and architectural rhythm across walls and floors.

Design & Inspiration

The dusty sage green palette pairs beautifully with warm brass fixtures, white oak cabinetry, raw linen textiles, and creamy limestones, making it an ideal choice for organic modern, Japandi, Mediterranean, and transitional interiors. Matte porcelain in this tone reads as calm and sophisticated — perfectly suited to spa-inspired bathrooms, moody kitchen backsplashes, and minimalist living spaces.

The elongated 2 1/3 × 10 plank format is especially effective on shower walls laid in a vertical stack bond, creating a sense of height, or running horizontally in a brick offset to ground a space. As a backsplash, it offers a painterly, layered effect reminiscent of handcrafted ceramic tile without the maintenance demands.

Popular design combinations: Volume Sage paired with honed Calacatta marble countertops, unlacquered brass hardware, and warm white oak open shelving for a serene organic-modern kitchen. Volume Sage is an Italian-made porcelain tile in a warm, dusty sage green tone that evokes the quiet sophistication of aged concrete and natural stone. Manufactured using cutting-edge inkjet technology, it delivers nuanced surface texture and tonal depth that feel authentically material rather than printed.

The matte finish diffuses light softly and resists fingerprints and water spots, making it highly practical for everyday use. The slender 2 1/3 × 10 inch plank format lends itself to a variety of layout patterns — vertical stack, horizontal brick offset, or herringbone — each imparting a distinct visual character to the installation.

Volume Sage is an excellent choice for kitchen backsplashes, bathroom walls, and accent niches, and its through-body porcelain construction also makes it suitable for residential floor applications. As this is a clearance or specialty item, ordering a sample to verify color accuracy against your specific lighting and materials is strongly recommended before purchasing in full quantity.

Free Shipping: This product ships at standard freight rates calculated at checkout based on your location and order size.

Processing & Delivery: Orders are processed within 2–3 business days. Large orders ship via LTL freight — curbside delivery only. An adult must be present to sign for delivery. Estimated transit: 2–10 business days after shipment.

30-Day Returns: Uninstalled tile may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Inspect all tile carefully before installation — installed tile cannot be returned or exchanged. Samples are final sale.

Exclusions: Free shipping does not apply to Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. territories, or international addresses. Additional charges may apply for remote delivery areas.

Sealing: Porcelain tile is non-porous and does not require sealing. Grout joints, however, should be sealed with a penetrating grout sealer upon installation and reapplied every 1–2 years in wet areas such as showers.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral tile cleaner and a soft mop or cloth. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners that can degrade grout and dull the matte surface over time. The matte finish is particularly forgiving of water spots but may show soap residue buildup — rinse thoroughly after cleaning.

Installation: Use a white polymer-modified thinset to prevent any gray bleed-through on the light sage surface. For the elongated plank format, a large-format notched trowel (3/8 inch square notch) is recommended to ensure full back coverage and prevent lippage. Maintain consistent grout joint spacing — 1/16 to 1/8 inch — and use a non-sanded grout for joints under 1/8 inch. Mix tiles from multiple boxes during installation to blend any subtle batch variation naturally.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. Order 10% overage for cuts, waste, and future repairs. Tile & Mosaic Depot specialists are available M–F 8:30AM–5PM PST at 855-797-8453.

Product & Installation Guidance

Natural stone is a product of the earth — every piece is one of a kind. A little planning ensures your finished installation looks its best and lasts for decades.

Natural Variation
Color, veining, texture, shade, movement, finish, and sizing vary from piece to piece. Product photos and samples are a general reference and may not match the exact material you receive. These variations are inherent characteristics of natural stone — they are part of its beauty, not defects.

Before You Install

  • Order roughly 10% extra to allow for cuts, waste, and future repairs.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes as you work to achieve the most natural, balanced appearance.
  • Dry-lay and inspect the full layout before setting a single tile.
  • Installation constitutes full acceptance of the product, so review everything carefully first.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a quality penetrating sealer before and after installation, and re-sealed periodically in wet or high-traffic areas. Clean only with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic products, bleach, vinegar, and ammonia, which can permanently etch the surface. Outdoor installations may weather or change tone over time with exposure.

Responsibility
Tile & Mosaic Depot is not responsible for improper installation, labor costs, substrate conditions, product misuse, or damage from improper handling, sealing, maintenance, or harsh chemicals. No claims, returns, or replacements can be accepted on installed material.

California Proposition 65: Some natural stone products contain substances known to the State of California to cause cancer or reproductive harm. For more information, visit www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

Order a Sample First

Seeing real stone in your own space — under your own light, beside your own finishes — is the best way to buy with confidence. We make it easy and affordable.

How It Works
Samples are just $7.99 each with free shipping, and they ship in 1–3 business days. Sizes vary by material and availability, typically ranging from 3"×3" up to 8"×8". Exact dimensions aren't guaranteed, but every sample is cut from the same material you'll receive in a full order.

What a Sample Shows
Samples help you evaluate the general color, texture, finish, and overall character of a product before committing to a full order. Because natural stone varies from piece to piece, your sample is representative — it may not capture the complete range of variation across an entire lot. For current lot photos, just ask our team.

Good to Know
