Sealing: Scabos travertine is a porous stone and must be sealed before grouting and use. Apply a penetrating stone sealer prior to installation and reseal every 12 months in dry areas, or every 6 months in wet areas such as showers and around tubs. The tumbled finish is particularly absorbent due to its open surface texture, so thorough sealer saturation is essential.

Cleaning: Clean with a pH-neutral stone soap or mild stone cleaner and warm water. Avoid acidic cleaners (vinegar, citrus-based products), alkaline degreasers, and abrasive scrubbers — acids will etch and dissolve the travertine surface and discolor grout. Wipe spills promptly, especially oils, wine, and coffee, to prevent staining through the stone's natural pits.

Installation: Use a white or warm-beige polymer-modified thinset mortar to avoid color bleed-through on lighter chips. Fill natural travertine voids with grout or a matching filler prior to or during grouting. Use non-sanded or fine-sanded grout depending on joint width; back-butter each sheet lightly for better adhesion on floors. Align mesh sheet edges carefully and press firmly with a grout float for full thinset contact.

Important: Inspect all tile before installation. Variations in color, veining, and texture between pieces are natural characteristics of genuine stone — not defects. How Your Order Ships
In-stock orders leave our warehouse within 2–3 business days. Stone, porcelain, and mosaic ship on a pallet via scheduled LTL freight and arrive 2–10 business days after dispatch, depending on destination. You'll get tracking and the carrier's name by email the day it ships.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

The carrier calls you first. Every freight delivery is by appointment. Expect a call or text to set a window before the truck is dispatched.
Curbside delivery. The driver unloads to the curb or driveway. Freight does not include carrying material indoors or into a garage — plan for a helper or a hand truck.
Someone 18+ must sign. Inspect the pallet before signing. Note any damage, shortage, or broken shrink-wrap on the delivery receipt — this is what makes a claim valid.
Truck access. The address must be accessible to a full-size freight truck with enough space to unload.

Natural Variation
Quarried stone varies in color, veining, shade, movement, and finish from piece to piece and from lot to lot. Screen photos and samples show the range, not the exact tile you'll receive. Variation is the nature of the material and is never grounds for return. Porcelain is far more consistent, but shade and pattern can still shift between production runs — buy your full quantity in one order.

Before You Install

Order 10% overage. Covers cuts, breakage, and spares for future repairs. Reorders may not match in tone or lot.
Inspect every piece before setting. Pull from all boxes, blend, and dry-lay the full area. Installation is acceptance — no claims are honored once tile is set.
Hire a qualified installer. Natural stone and large-format porcelain require experience with the material. Your installer is responsible for substrate, setting materials, and method.

Sealing & Care
Natural stone should be sealed with a penetrating sealer and re-sealed periodically in wet and high-traffic areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and acidic cleaners etch marble, limestone, travertine, and onyx permanently. Porcelain does not require sealing. Outdoor stone weathers and shifts in tone over time; this is expected.
